Candy magazine, a “transversal style magazine,” is featuring a very funny Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington themed editorial titled “The Devil Wears Anna.” More than just beautifully shot images, the editorial is well thought out and hilariously well-acted by Andres Borque and Luis Venegas who take on the part of the two Vogue editors. And according to Frockwriter where we lifted this images from, this issue actually came out in October and also featured Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani, and blogger Tavi Gevinson plus others, but is just now hitting the internets after being scanned by Homotography.
Artist Saul Zanolari presents his take on how Vogue Editor Anna Wintour appears to him–with spotted hair taking orders at a McDonald’s drive through! He captures her eyes quite nicely though it’s her horned hat that intrigues. Zanolari uses a combination of photography, painting and digital art to create his work. On the next page, a Zanolari’s portrait of Naomi Campbell. Via Mocoloco.

Hermes is already sick of LVMH’s pushy ways, specifically according to the CEO, “There is nothing friendly about this move. It was neither desired nor solicited. It is very probable that he will increase his stake, I don’t know his intentions.” –WWD
I could not ignore the huge hole that is missing at London Fashion Week and that is Alexander McQueen. Even though McQueen had not attended London Fashion Week since 2001, knowing that he would never design another collection is truly a huge loss for the creative industry. Stars including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Anna Wintour and Bjork (who also performed) paid a special tribute to McQueen at a special one hour ceremony at St.Pauls Cathedral, London. I think the video tribute sums up the awe-inspiring, determined, outlandish genius that was McQueen. AK.
Tim Gunn’s book, “Gunn’s Golden Rules: Life’s Little Lessons For Making It Work,” is getting lots of attention for his call-outs on Anna Wintour and Isaac Mizrahi, among others. On La Diabla, Gunn says, “It’s insane that people don’t call her out on the things she does. Is it fear? I was certainly afraid of her. When her office called me, I thought I’d have to go into the witness protection program.” So not shocked by that, but the comments on Mizrahi– “Oh, please, I was so kind to him. I mean, I wouldn’t have the words to describe some of the more abhorrent behavior. He really is a terrible, terrible, terrible person”–were a surprise since a friend of mine dated Mizrahi for a minute and never mentioned any nightmarish behavior. He even goes in on his Mom and Dad! And he’s celibate and has been for a long time. Sounds like a super juicy read! Via Racked.
Ever imagined the fashion world’s most chic and powerful sitting on a toilet? Even more, what would they read while parked there? Illustrator aleXsandro Palombo has pondered these questions and put his visions to paper with a series of illustrations called “Toilet Very Chic.” On his blog, Anna Wintour, the queen of them all, was featured first, naturally. La Diabla was followed by illustrations of French Vogue Boss Lady Carine Roitfeld (described as “a gorgeous S&M chic”), Allure Editor Linda Wells, designer Tom Ford, and many more. It’s all very insidery, not to mention quite strange, but according to Palombo, the illustrations are meant to lighten the mood, and, he declares, “We are certain that it will help the fashion system fight the crisis and get rid of that layer of boredom and bitterness which it seems to have got itself stuck in!”
More illustrations, including Carine Roitfeld, Tom Ford and more, after the flip.
No offical show images are on line yet from the Alexander Wang Fall 2010 show, but Wire image did have a couple of backstage images and then some cut-off runway shots. To be honest, I had no idea Alex was this aodrable! He looks all relaxed-casual here with La Diabla herself, but what do you want to bet on the inside his stomach is doing multiple flip-flops?
UPDATE: Watch a stream of the show at SHOWstudio. Loving the pinstripe trousers and skirts. Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, etc….start your knock-off engines!

Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine for twenty years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. Hidden behind her trademark bob and sunglasses, she has never allowed anyone to scrutinize the inner workings of her magazine. Until now. With unprecedented access, filmmaker R.J. Cutler’s new film THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE does for fashion what he did for politics in The War Room, taking the viewer inside a world they only think they know. Every August a record-breaking number of people can’t wait to get their hands on the September issue of Vogue. The 2007 issue was and remains the biggest ever, weighing over four pounds, selling thirteen million copies, and impacting the $300-billion global fashion industry more than any other single publication. An intimate, funny and surprising look at Anna Wintour and her team of larger-than-life editors as they create this must-have Bible of fashion, Cutler explores the untouchable glamour of Wintour’s Vogue to reveal the extraordinarily passionate people at its heart. He takes us behind the scenes at Fashion Week, to Europe, on shoots and reshoots, and into closed-door staff meetings, bearing witness to an arduous, entertaining, and sometimes emotionally demanding process. At the eye of this annual fashion hurricane is the two-decade relationship between Wintour and Grace Coddington, incomparable Creative Director and fashion genius. They are perfectly matched for the age-old conflict between creator and curator. Through them, we see close-up the delicate creative chemistry it takes to remain at the top of the ever-changing fashion field.
Here’s one more from the premiere. This time it’s La Diabla on the left and fashion genius Ms. Patricia Field (who I embarrassingly confused with Vivienne Westwood last week!!).
See how Anna’s image is light and Pat’s is dark? That just shows you how things aren’t always as they seem!
The opening for the Murakami show at Brooklyn Museum was last night and looky-loo and who was there! None other than the devil herself!!
^^She probably helicoptored in and landed on the roof of the museum to avoid driving through the streets of Brooklyn so she wouldn’t have to hurt her eyes gazing upon humans—gasp!!–who don’t make a gazillion dollars/year. That’s Marc on the right of course. He did another bag collabo with Murakami and it launched in conjunction with opening night.
And if you weren’t there, don’t feel bad (even though it would have been fun to see Kanye perform no matter what). Look at the pictures after the fold and you’ll see that launch night parties at museums are filled with boring-ass people who have the social skills of hamsters. I’m NOT lying. Seriously.
