Alexander Wang’s “Dillon” sneakers are now available for purchase on his site. This black version was just offered as part of a “12 Days Of Gifting” holiday promotion. The Dillon is priced at $385–what do you think, ladies, can the Dillon kicks get it or would you rather save your pennies for Isabel Marant’s Spring 2012 line up of kicks (though good look finding them anywhere)?
The CFDA in partnership with Vogue awarded Joseph Altuzurra, the winner of its fund prize last week and lots of fashion folks turned out for the event. Above in a study of contrasts is actress Rooney Mara and CFDA presidente, Diane Von Furstenberg.
After the flip see additional images of Vera Wang, Tory Burch, Zac Posen, Rachel Roy, Francisco Costa, Olivier Theyskens, Alexander Wang, Billy Reid, Jason Wu, Kate & Laura Mulleavy, Brooklyn Decker, Liya Kebede, Zoe Kravitz, Anna Wintour and tons more.
The celebrities–many of them sporting outfits from the collaboration–came out in full force for the H&M x Versace runway presentation held in New York City last night. Big names included Uma Thurman, Blake Lively, Prince, Linda Evangelista, Blondie, Sofia Coppola, Alan Cumming, Terry Richardson, plus more. NY-based designers were there in big numbers, too, including Alexander Wang (above with Zoe Kravitz), Joseph Altuzarra, Lazaro Hernandez & JackMcCollough, Anna Sui and Brian Atwood.
See all of the above on the next page plus a bunch more.
H&M is partnering on a capsule collection with the costume designer, Trish Summerville (that’s her in the above image front and center with the blonde mohawkish hair), for the flick Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, which opens in December. In the fashion world the movie has already received quite a bit of buzz because Rooney Mara one of the actresses appearing in the movie was featured on the cover of Vogue’s November issue.
As for the collection, it has that Alexander Wang/Balmain, downtown rock ‘n’ roll feel to it, which is hardly new, even for H&M, and yet it’s still a bit of a watershed moment to see this look officially packaged to go mass.
Not sure why she’s there, but Rihanna was recently spotted in London and Dublin in denim jeans, which she paired with an Alexander Wang bomber and lace up boots (above) one day and houndstooth pumps (next page) the next day. Her shades remained unchanged.
Just took a look at Alexander Wang’s Autumn 2011 shoes offerings, and am seeing some sizes already sold out. I reallly liked this lovely shoe called the “Luisa.” It features an open toe and silver printed lambskin combined with kidskin and is for female super heroes only.
Photographer Julia Chesky was a fan of the all-white outfit model Hanne Gaby Odiele wore to the Alexander Wang spring 2012 show and so are we. Do tell us, sneakerheads….what are the kicks she’s wearing?
Photographer Julia Chesky once again had backstage access for the Alexander Wang Spring 2012 runway show and snapped images of Wang’s niece, who’s gotta be one of the cutest kids on the planet. A true Downtownista in the making!
Alexander Wang’s menswear collection recently had its exclusive launch at Barney’s, and the department store’s creative ambassador (interesting title!), Simon Doonan, had a chat with Wang on the offerings and who he had in mind as a customer when he created his designs. But the most revealing part of the interview is not about the clothes but the conditioner Wang uses to keep his locks so enviably luxurious. According to Wang he doesn’t use conditioner and appears to be a part of the anti-shampoo brigade, opting for a brand called No-Poo. Such a Downtowner at heart that Wang is.
Alexander Wang collaborated with Starbucks on a tee shirt, which is now available for purchase on Starbucks in multiple sizes for $85 (see above as worn by model seemingly very sad-faced about the coffee stain on her shirt). Starbucks initiated the idea as part of its 40-year anniversary celebration and reached out to three CFDA winners to create a design. Here’s what Wang had to say about the project:
“When Starbucks and the CFDA approached us with this project, the first thing we thought of what everyone tries to avoid—spilled coffee on a t-shirt. This turned into the design, hoping people would have fun with it.”
Billy Reid and Sophie Theallet also did tees. Interesting how Starbucks is trying to get all up into the fashion mix.
