One of our longstanding faves, accessory designer and artist Bijules‘ gold nipple pastie was among the items used to style SHOWStudio’s fashion film, “The Waist,” part of the site’s Fashion Body series. Directed by photographer Kristian Schuller and filmmaker Marie Schuller, the film also features designs by Viktor & Rolf, Louis Vuitton and Gareth Pugh. See the entire film at SHOWstudio.

Hermes’ presentation for its summer 2010 accessory collection is artsy as can be (aka, I’m confused) with a theme entitled “Tales to Be Told.” Definitately the campaign has an Alice-in-Wonderland feel, albeit minus the color. The bags shown on this page are the best part for certain and lovers of cleanly-line classics should find them swoon-worthy. Next page there are some hats, another bag and shoes.

Accessory designer Dominic Jones‘ latest creations are featured in the March issue of Vice magazine. He’s evolved from studs and punk looks from last year to necklaces that speak to the oceanic cycle of life and death. It’s a theme Alex McQueen explored with his spring 2010 collection, too. And in general it seems to be part of a new direction in fashion of getting cozier with our animal roots, even if that mostly means wearing them as adornment, whether dead or living.

We were all so focused on Kanye and Amber’s fur display last week that his accessory game went under the radar. All I can say is sick, sick, sick! And nice mani, Ye!

This spring Temperley London sent their models down the runway in super feminine, flowing dresses drenched in ruffles and floral prints paired with tough, leather accessories and menswear pieces. The combination was explosive and I can honestly say I would wear every look in the collection. The standout piece was the studded star belt for sure…paired with the Grecian goddess inspired dresses and frilly rompers it brings the perfect slice of edge to spring.

In these slow, post-X-mas fashion days, there’s time for me to obsess on other things besides the latest and greatest Western designs. Watching a National Geographic show on various and sundry tribes, I got hooked last week on the Himba tribe, especially the women, who are known for their striking looks and beauty regime, which includes twice-daily application of a red ochre mixed with butter fat. Their jewerly, to put it mildly, is off the hinges:

One of the reason that the Himba and other tribes fascinate me is seeing what we share and are divergent on behaviorally. As for marriage, husbands are chosen for Himba women, but the catch is that they’re encouraged to have one or two boyfriends on the side. Nice! RihRih always looks hot in her stage clothing, but I’m much more in awe of her streetwear sensibilities. No celebrity I know gets it better than her when it comes to the art of mixing high and low and just hitting all the right spots when it comes to what accessories to wear right now.

Miucca Prada and her team of geniuses have again blown the fashion world away with a collection that is, in the Prada tradition ,unexpected, modern and  to me overtly sexy.A term that does not  always apply to the collections is certainly present this season with backless cropped sweaters, and  the disheveled wrinkled look of the morning after walk of shame.I liked the clothes,loved the skirts,but the Shoes! the Shoes! Accessorized with footsies   add a fun unexpected detail to the looks,Prada does what they do best.Great  works of leather that leave us lusting and make the footwear knockoff makers run to their factories and copy, copy, copy.

I loved what Sarah Mower the Style reporter had to say:

"There was something fabulously Italian about all this shameless reveling in femininity. The fifties overtones, with the high chignons, the ruched bras, and swishing rear-action in the below-knee pencil skirts managed to channel the heyday of Cinecitta without cliché. Best of all, this is a collection destined to look even better on a woman with a real body than it does on a teen model. And that, Mrs. Prada surely knows, really is "what counts."
