New York City based women’s wear label Married to the Mob announces its new fall line with the help of legendary French artist Fafi. These portrait sessions shot by photographer Lynnette Astaire are the first in a new series that Married to the Mob will embark on featuring extraordinary women from all over the world. This season features Fafi, a Parisian artist known globally for her colorful and provocative paintings as well as her recent work with Adidas and Le Sportsac featuring her “Fafinette” characters.

After an introduction at hotspot Colette in Paris where both of their brands can be found, Mob founder Leah McSweeney’s decision to feature Fafi for the campaign was a natural fit for Mob, Fafi is a pioneer and trendsetting artist all while balancing work with her husband and son.

Married to the Mob has been at the forefront of the womens streetwear movement  with unique collaborations with brands such as MCM and artists such as legendary graffiti artist Kaws and portrait photographer Lynnette Astaire. These projects have been noted in editorial outlets such as Vogue, Paper, Elle, Jalouse and Complex. In addition to this seasons shoot Leah plans to add Fafi to her growing list of Mob contributing artists in the future.

Married to the Mob is available online at www.marriedtothemobnyc.com. Fafi can be found at www.fafi.net.

Nike x Claw Money Blazers

RTEmagicC claw nike 1.jpg Nike x Claw Money Blazers

Nike has teamed up with New York graffiti artist and fashion designer CLAW Money for a limited release Blazer sneaker, to be released this summer at select retail accounts. The style will feature an eyelet pattern that is feminine, graphic, and subtly incorporates CLAW’s three taloned “mark”. Colorways will include Zest/White and Pink Fire, Flame Red/White and Ice Blue, and Black on Black with Anthracite. “I thought the Blazer would be a perfect canvas since it’s the brand’s first sneaker for playing basketball.”

Nike has a rich heritage of producing innovative products that have gone on to define performance within sport and style away from the court or field. The Nike Blazer is one shoe that has transcended the boundaries between sport and style, moving beyond the court and into the realm of street culture. This unique partnership between Nike and CLAW Money creates the next level of dialogue between Nike’s product and the very culture that has embraced it. Dialogue and insight from an outside perspective has always been at the heart of Nike innovation. Constant discourse with, and insights from, the world’s greatest athletes have continued to inform the design process. Acknowledging the culture they inspire, embrace and draw from is fundamental in respecting the product and creating forward looking design, be it for the ultimate runner or an urban lifestyle. “Nike and street art, have been teaming up since day one”, says Jesse Leyva, designer for Nike. “The worlds of sports and street are close, but what for me was very interesting about this project with CLAW was a female eye towards the iconic Blazer”.

The Blazer collaboration with CLAW Money is the first in a two-part series. Next, Nike and CLAW Money team up to launch a limited edition of the Vandal Hi debuting in October. Definitely also something to look out for. Until now we have confirmed retail price, but we can tell you that they will drop on July 28th at select Nike Tier One accounts.

RTEmagicC cassette spr07 1 01.jpg House of Cassette Spring 07 Preview

House of Cassette have a nice new layout on their website now and show their complete men and women collections for Spring 2007. The collection is dominated and black and they also have a lot of striped pieces in the collection, especially the womens. The collection has a great balance between casual and more dressed up pieces. The mens collection seems more casual than the womens. As usual the denim by House of Cassette is outstanding.

We see House of Cassette as a nice addition to brands such as Nom de Guerre, that take overall a more sophisticated approach, while still staying overall casual.

Every new Uniqlo collection we see, we get more jealous for not having it anywhere near us. Now you can actually check out their Spring 2007 collection that is now getting into their stores.

Once again lots of nice basics. They really show you how not important branding sometimes is. Especially their crewneck sweaters and pretty much all colorways are very much intriguing. Both the mens and womens lines look great and feature mostly khaki colors, but with some strong color accents.

Check out for yourself here.
