Oh boy, what was boy genius thinking we he put his stamp on this design, which, as bloggers have repeatedly pointed out here, here and here, is priced at $1,960. I’m kind of making fun of Kanye with my headline, but I think any person outside of the few that breathe the very thin air Marc Jacobs and friends do, find the out-of-touchness of this item borderline shocking. Then again, Jacobs has visionary tendencies so maybe he has a feeling for a brighter, more light-hearted and humorous future than the rest of us. (Yep, making excuses as I go along, I know.)

We were all so focused on Kanye and Amber’s fur display last week that his accessory game went under the radar. All I can say is sick, sick, sick! And nice mani, Ye!

Don’t know why, but the Paris shows seem to bring out the best in Kanye and Amber. Maybe it’s because they’re more conscious of how they appear and unlike most folks these days, are not in the least bit afraid of making a statement. They’re arriving at LV in the photo on the left and YSL on the right. Gotta say, LOVE the fur! (And if by chance you missed Kelis’s MySpace rant on fur, check it out….she has a lot to say!)

In perfect timing I just spotted this editorial by Contributing Editor shot by Cameron Krone that illustrates the point of my prior tirade. I know this is old by now but, In the midst of fashion week, I totally missed that Amber Rose was featured in Elle Magazine’s October issue , until I picked up the issue today. Little did I know that the “editorial” was also styled by Kanye West. Now,  I am not going  to speak on the fact that most well adjusted men I have spoken to,  would not display their woman’s goods to the world, even if the said woman was that hot and  in no way shy. Jean Paul Goude styled Grace Jones  ( they dated) with very little on but, his representation we can agree was definitely more artistic, and was clear in its direction which , contributed to make Grace Jones the Icon she is.

What I want to point out  tough is that this editorial  does not in any way  do justice to Amber Rose who,  like her or not,  is simply beautiful. Posing for a women’s publication  like a model on Smooth Mag, is just not a good look. It’s not even about repressing sexuality, or being prude about nakedness. Something edgy /sexy or out there conceptual that really showcased her beauty and “in your face curves” Like Elle puts it (whatever that means)Would have been amazing! I wonder what the  editors were thinking and if that was their way of producing a fast selling out Issue? In that case please take  a cue from Italian or French Vogue. There is no denying that in these parts we are quite fond of the taste level  of the good people at Colette. But, this recent collaboration with timberland where all they did was add their logo to the tongue and blue accents make me wonder. I have no issue with Timberlandor the whole work wear trend , but I would have loved to see colette do more with the design and actually make me want to go there. For $330 I’ll pass.Kanye West  has  been rocking  construction boots lately and we know that  some people in fashion are loving him right now.Via nymag.

When Amber Rose created a stir in the fashion world a few months ago I was curious to see If her appearances  , for various fashion events were going to be it.  Apparently not , as I  just stumbled upon the campaign for the Kanye x Louis Vuitton Sneakers launching in June ‘09 , shot by Steve Shaw.

The girl power female in me wants to dissect this choice  to pieces and illustrate all the deeper implications of choosing to feature this woman who has an ability to really rock a look , naked and so on. Keep in mind that we’re not offended  by nudity in itself. But, it’s Friday I’m not going to get intense. I’m really just questioning this choice when the artistic potential  of Amber & Kanye could have been phenomenal. More images on the next page via Nahright & Blackbook.
