I heard the news of a stimulus check,that might be coming our way, as a way for the governement to ease taxpayers.If this election is successful and I don’t move to Canada these babies will be my celebration shoes!

The Younity’s opening of the Heart & Soul exhibit at Alphabeta was this past Friday.As a Collaboration between 60 women artists, spearheaded by  Toofly and Alice Mizrachi the event was a success , with some of our favorite people showing up to show support .great music,drinks ,food &  Art  no one wanted to leave…

The Heart & Soul Book sold like hot cakes, at 20 bucks a pop you just can’t pass up on the opportunity to have a  postcard/book  of all the pieces in the show. Check on the next page for our Extensive Photos!

 I picked out two of my faves from Swiss Army’s Special Edition watches.Great features,design and durability as always. Swiss Army is one of those labels to watch.Under the radar in the US they have launched an apparel line  for men and women that stays true to who they are, don’t know how it s selling but I like it alot. The men’s  watches tough have won my heart along ago.

Miroike was launched  in Berlin by Ramiro Calderon Alvarado and Ulrike Siedel in 2004. Both studied under Vivienne Westwood and graduated from the Berlin school of the Arts. The Miroike  line  has been recently seen at select retailers in the US! notablyWelcome Hunters in LA and King of Green Street in NYC. Miroike as a  label creates small collections that challenge the traditinal conventions of shapes and contrast aptly titled by Siedel and Calderon as " Couture-à-Porter ".

For fall 2008 the capsule collection features great contrats details , innovative shapes and the most amazing boots I have seen in a while. Produced and created in Berlin Miroike has a commitment to quality and an aesthetic that has made them one of the most promising design talents in Berlin,a place whose individual fashion and edginess is well known to fashion insiders. There was a time where my middle name was camouflage, seriously I could not have enough of the pattern ,all I wore were cargo pants and camo something. I even received  gifts in camo gift wrapping. Needless to say that Hardy Blechman’s Maharishi is my all time hands down I will fork over the extensive  moula for embroidered cargos if I could only find the thangs in NYC!

The fall 08 Maharishi Women’s line is online, this shirt just works, It has just enough good details that make it stand apart from your run of the mill button down.

The  downtown NY retail scene  is one of those "areas" that I know pretty well, having been part of it for way too long.So when Racked posted this am  that Lounge in Soho was closing  this did not come as a surprise.Soho has sadly become an outdoor mall,that I still prefer to midtown any day but on week-ends ,heck no.

To me it was just a matter of time for this retail format to collapse.How do you remain competitive when alot of your brands like Chistian Audigier or Breil ,just to name a few have their owns stores in the ‘hood ? Let’s not forget Bloomies about 3 blocks away as well.So to my future retail moguls  be smart it takes more than a cool store design and a location to stay alive in those economic times, and I’m not even going to talk about business practices, customer service ect…check out the rest of the report from Racked Here
