On Michelle Obama’s Style…

 On Michelle Obamas Style...

* Monique Lhuillier sketch via WWD

As far as I can remember, Lady Diana  was probably the one woman in politics/media I remember being excited to see on TV.She had grace and the elegance that made you wonder what she would do next. She was not rocking the edgiest looks but sh e was relevant to the times in her own way.

Michelle Obama is also creating quite a stir,  understandably so,considering that the woman can rock H&M, J.crew,Thakoon, and Narciso Rodriguez, and make it look effortless , elegant and oh so current!

I mean look at her, rocking orange ,showing the curves. If this is not the new "conservative chic" I don’t know what is… This picture is taken from Mrs O, a site devoted to her praiseworthy style and and elegance!

The buzz lately is the Inauguration and the ideas the designers are coming up with, I cannot wait!

Victorias Secret Get Edgy With Fleet Ilya!

This past summer we introduced you to Fleet Ilya whose taboo-breaking line of accessories  we agreed lois and I are just too hot for words. The fashion  geek that I am  just spotted them on no  other than the Victoria’s  Secret Runway that aired  last night.

I have to say that I was impressed, but then again even if  Victoria’s Secret label does not always know what is up with fashion and lingerie  their stylists are definitely on point, for sourcing such an undergound edgy talent as Fleet Ilya.

Another harness on the next page!

The Uri Boot vs. The Jackson Boot

uri boot The Uri Boot vs. The Jackson Boot

The Uri Boot @ Piperlime              /        The Jackson Boot @ Karmaloop

Fringes have been slowly making a comeback in the forefront of fashion. So far, at least in nyc they have not taken the proportion of studs or rhinestones but they are here. In the event that you venture into "fringed land," just a word of caution.Keep it simple.

The Uri Boot,by Sam Edelman on the left is a great example of fringes done well. The fringes do not "take over" the boot. The Jackson on the right by Jeffrey Campbell is also very fun, busier with alot more adornment. They should be the star of a very simple outfit.Cause there is a fine line between channeling you inner flower child and looking like you left the house in your pocahontas costume, you know…

 R.I.P Te Casan

I really wanted these boots I had seen there…To my surprise Te casan has now bid farewell to its fabulous space on West Broadway. The concept was amazing, but in these times  a brand needs alot more than great aesthetic and retail design , to make ends meet.read the whole feature here-via The Cut

Christian Dior: Vintage Pink Turban!

04 December 2008, 01.02 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

For my whole adult life I’ve been fascinated and drawn to turbans. Sadly, I’ve never figured out a circumstance where I could rock one without creating a look that screams out eccentric aunt a la "Grey Gardens." There are those who could perhaps wear them without that effect, but I aint one of them.

Being sold on Etsy as we speak by seller TialeyVintage. On the other side I did a shot of the inside so all my label babies can see it’s really Christain Dior.

Scarlett Johansson Goes Red

04 December 2008, 00.34 | Posted in Fashion, Other | No comments »

Ever since spying her photo shoot for Allure, I’ve become a little bit obsessed with Scarlett Johansson. Yesterday she debuted her newly henna-colored locks at an appearance in Madrid in support of a film called "The Spirit."

She looks almost other-worldly. And as for her hair color? At this stage in her game, there is no color that wouldn’t work for her.

Full shot of her in a ridiculously slick cocktail dress on the other side….

Props to SuperiorPics.com for the shots.

Vans has done a boatload of collabos this year, but I think I like this one the best so far. Not just cuz the Bad Brains were an amazing band that never got its due propers, but also cuz they’re a good fit with Vans. Makes sense somehow.

Loyalle Coat: Fuzzy Things are the Best!

03 December 2008, 19.32 | Posted in Fashion, Stores | No comments »

I adore white fuzzy coats. Last year I had two cuz I went through one of those obsessive things, which included not stopping at being satisfied with one. You know, like, "Well this fake, furry sheepskin is nice, but that one is even nicer, and then I’ll be able to alternate!" This one is by Loyale, which is all green and vegan and stuff. The company even recommends that when you clean it–cuz it’s gonna get dirty, trust me–that you get "eco dry-clean" it. Ha, funny, right?

LoyaleCostilaJkt Loyalle Coat: Fuzzy Things are the Best!

Full length shot on the other side and then a Loyale plaid tunic, which is sort of cool, but maybe too plain. I haven’t decided yet.

Btw, one fucked up thing is right now I have ZERO fuzzy coats thanks to me going through one of those crazy, I’m-throwing-out-EVERYTHING phases.
