For s/s 09 Irina Rohpeter presents  us with "24/7" a collection inspired by the symbol of the clock, passing time and its effect on fashion. Backward collars, diagonal buttons also payfully remind us of those hurried mornings when you just wish that button you missed was actually the style of the shirt…

“Cover” by JungleGurl

 Cover by JungleGurl

By some miraculous series of events and generosities,I ended up in Aruba last week end. While soaking in the sun and  then participating in a company happy hour ,the  thought of a fun cover up came to mind.Finding something to litterally just throw on that still had an urban/fashion edge while still being tropically appropriate .Natalie Golonka, creator of JungleGurl a label we featured a while back, must have read my mind as she is launching "Cover" by JungleGurl a series of easy pieces that are urban enough to translate from the ocean/pool to a more pulled together venue.

A few of my faves on the flip!

pet bottle cover Jewelry by Gulnur Ozdaglar

I have to admit that in terms of recycled accessories sometimes , even with good intent and creativity some pieces lack the high fashion element needed to get our love. You know what I mean, some pieces and up looking like a school project. The future does look brighter tough with designer like Gulnur Ozdaglar who uses PET bottle Poly(Etylene Terephtalate) for pieces that are stylish elegant.

 Reebok x Basquiat f/w 09

Yesterday we got a glimpse of the Reebok x Basquiat collection for f/w 09. When it comes to artist/sneaker collaborations ,I have to admit to a serious weakness for Basquiat. The sneakers are inspired by actual paintings  and stay true to Basquiat ’s  somewhat erratic aesthetic,I love that the designers did not replicate the same graphic on each sneaker.More on the next page!

Cut-It-Out Spring s/s 09 Collection

21 January 2009, 13.07 | Posted in Design, Fashion | No comments »

Russian born designer Yelena Konovalova has brought us Cut-It-Out, a collection of jersey pieces covered in intricate patterns. Heavily inspired by Russian folklore, the designer created each pattern using a process of cutting and folding paper. The look is very reminiscent of those preschool, homemade snowflakes from my child hood. Three seasons in and Cut-It-Out has remained consistent in its aesthetic…which I figured could get old quick… yet it manages to breathe new life into their signature patterns using bold, new color palettes.

The current collection features some really fun separates including hoodies, leggings, and tunics. The standout piece however is the blazing red, over sized, button down sweater…easy to wear over jeans in the winter and while I’m not one to usually forgo pants and do that whole “hey look at me I’m wearing a really long shirt and calling it a dress” look…I think this piece would be perfect all by itself in the spring.

Check out some more from Cut-It-Out’s Spring/Summer ‘09 collection after the jump.
