Rihanna at Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Concert

rihrihnails Rihanna at Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Concert

Little Miss Sunshine performed at the Pepsi Smash Super Bowl Concert this past weekend.  Clearly she’s still in her S&M “Road Warrior” phase.  Check out her manicure here–all black with one, multi-colored nail. UPDATE: Samia says her pinkie nail features an image of Obama. I thought it was, but I was like, nah. Wrong!!

All images are from Ultimate Rihanna. And according to that site, Rihanna will be featured in February’s Vibe. Supposedly its Vibe’s very first style issue. Could that be true? The first? Anyway, Keyshia Cole is going to be the cover girl (that link is to the actual cover, which also features her Mom–ugh). We love Keyshia, but if we’re talking style, Rihanna really deserves that spot. No doubt some public-relations-related b.s. that caused that to go down.

The image on the other side features RihRih’s boots. When you see them, you’ll understand why “Road Warrior” lept to mind.

Rick Owens Hidden Sandal

rick Rick Owens Hidden Sandal

The Rick Owens  Hidden Sandal   on a really basic  functionality level, could be  the answer to pedicure-less toes! But, being a fan of Mr. Owens and his aesthetic, I could see how over time, the goal might be that the suede covering would get frayed and destroyed, creating  a  truly unique look .Think  edgy tribal. Available  for pre-order at Luisaviaroma

DC Shoes Darren Bass Collabo

dcdarren2shoes DC Shoes Darren Bass Collabo

DC Shoes linked up with Miami Ink tattoo artist Darren Brass to collaborate on a collection featuring men’s and women’s shoes, hoodies and New Era caps. The two women’s shoes he designed are featured above. Ever-curious about what runs through a man’s mind when he picks up a pen and sets out to create an item that will appeal to the opposite sex, we asked Darren what the difference was between his approach toward women versus men.  And this is what he said:

“When I knew I was going to have the opportunity to design a women’s shoe with DC, I was excited because I knew I would be able  to go all out creatively. I really looked forward to this part of the project. It allowed me to really open up the creative reservoir. With women’s shoes you really don’t have any limitations, and with that in mind I went for mine. It was also a great experience working with DC, who was completely open to the direction I wanted to go with these shoes and who also had the resources to get the amazing materials to work with. I really wanted to design something that would be appreciated like a sweet basket of peaches or or the finest grapes on the vine.”

Personally, I am most partial to the basket weave pair on the right. It’s hard to imagine summer with the snow pouring down outside my window as I type this, but imagine how cute those would be on a boardwalk with a pair of short shorts. Fresh like a sweet pineapple!

Tarina Tarantino’s Pavé Top Hat

tarina 1 Tarina Tarantinos Pavé Top Hat

Tarina Tarantino launched a  crystal pavé top hat exclusively for Revolve Clothing. Made of gold Swarovski crystals, the hats retails for $1000 dollars. Only five were made.

I will not get into the style quotient or actual wear-ability of the piece because I know some of you can actually make it work. What I do challenge though–aside from the Swarovski crystals,  is the use of relatively cheap materials as adornments to the  hat. Tulle  is usually one of  the cheapest fabrics you can find, as well as gold-colored beads, which are often  used in carnival beads. Seriously Tarina, what about silk ? Or Embroidery? Have you ever  looked at a  bridal saree ? And as a talented jewelry designer, there are so many ways to adorn with taste and luxury that would at least justify the hefty price tag.

margiela 1 Martin Margiela High Tops

If Kanye was at least trying to emulate some of the labels he admires for his LV Collabo, I think these  Martin Margiela sneakers would have been a great starting point.

Tod’s & Gwenynth Team Up Again

YouTube Preview Image

A few days back, David, the boss of this joint, sent a link detailing Tod’s renewed partnership with Gwyneth Paltrow. Now Gwynnie has always been enjoyable to make fun of, though after the launch of her “nourishing the inner aspect” newsletter Goop, it’s become a little like making jokes about Williamsberg hipsters–too easy and done to death. So I figured I’d search YouTube and see if I could find the Tod’s video so I could embed it here and leave it at that. Instead I stumbled upon a Gwyneth interview with Alan Cumming in which she reaches new heights of twerpy self-obsessiveness. Watch as the poor girl nearly has a breakdown after eating her fourth french fry. I swear I’m not lying. You have to watch.

Fenton Spring /Summer 2009

fenton 9 cover Fenton Spring /Summer 2009

Dana Lorenz created Fenton in 2005 and it immediately became a success. Big names like Barneys in New York and Ikram in Chicago picked up the line in its  first season!

Dona’s talent in this over saturated accessories world is her  flawless use of materials seldomly used together like snakeskin, pearls, ribbon and studs(above), and her ability to design jewelry that  is classic, edgy and at the same time, somewhat random(which we love), but never clumsy.  Fenton  Spring/ Summer 09 is HighSnobette approved !

Ps. Also check out Dana’s other line Fallon–hawt !!!

More of my favorite  Fenton pieces on the next page….
