Karl Lagerfeld created with its RTW collection for Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 a line that again represents the brand more than 100%. Mixing modern aspects like the use of pastel colors and new shapes, there is always that little something that reminds of the classic Coco Chanel in black and white wearing tweed and pearls. Model Stef van der Laan stars the Spring 2013 press kit images and is the perfect incarnation of the modern Coco Chanel.

Starting mid-October, Brad Pitt will be the first man speaking about (and hopefully help selling) the Chanel No.5 fragrance.

Andrea d’Avack, president of Chanel Fragrance & Beauty about the project:

“To keep a legend fresh, you always have to change its point of view. It is the first time we’ve had a man speaking about a women’s fragrance. We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume. No.5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level.”

The global campaign will include a commercial, directed by Joe Wright that will lauch on October 15 and a print campaign to appaer in fashion magazines in November. We’ll keep you posted with first images.

A few days ago we were showing you the extravagant ‘Hola-Hoop’ bag from Chanels Spring/Summer 2013 collection presented last week in Paris. The overall feedback was quite positive allthough nobody really knew how to use of the bulky handbag. Maestro Karl Lagerfeld himself now has the answer for you:

“You need space for the beach towel. Then you can put it into the sand and hang things on it.”

Always a wry one that Karl…in Chanel’s Paris Fashion Week runway show today, the designer showed a “Hula-Hoop” bag, one of such epic proportions, one can’t help but conclude it’s a statement that comments on the massive importance these day of bags as it relates to every accessory brands’ sales (category growth of bags is outpacing even shoes), while at the same time poking fun at the concept, which every designer is now chasing like five-year olds after a soccer ball.

She won us over in an all black everything out fit in Spring 2012. The little girl now strike a pose with mini Chanel and Nike’s .Behold what might be the youngest street style icon!

During her “Born This Way Ball” European tour, Lady Gaga met up with Terry Richardson for a photoshoot in the city centre of Helsinki. Gaga is wearing a black feathery crow-like robe by Charles de Castelbajac and poses in front of a Chanel store. Afterwards Terry attended the concert and documented Gaga and her Little Monsters at the show and backstage for his blog.

As certain items tend to do, this Jil Sandar coated paper lunch bag is causing a bit of a ruckus among fashion followers. At $290.67, it’s priced just right to simulataneously annoy and delight. Though if you’re among the crowd that finds it adorable, you may be too late, as it’s already sold out–at least at Ln-cc.

Of course the other point to note is that the idea of a stylish paper bag is hardly a new one–there’s the famous street style shot of a handmade Chanel paper bag we posted in 2009, one of our all time most popular posts, and then this Marie Turnor bag we wrote about in 2011. And we’re guessing that not even those are not even close to first takes on the idea.

Chanel just released a short film titled Chanel Obsession, a short film featuring the young and beautiful Edie Campbell, as directing by a rising star in the contemporary art scene, Cyrille de Vignemont. Campbell is a bit of new muse for Karl Lagerfeld, having first appeared in the label’s ad campaign for Autumn 2012. What we see in the film is a very sleek and clean but still glamorous presentation of our favourite black and white label.

Parfums Chanel is relaunching the cult scent Coco Noir which apparently was all the rage in the 80s. Consisting  of oriental  notes and an all black packaging we’re seduced by its the mysterious appeal. Available  this August 2012.Via LaChanelphile.
