Clearly ‘Inspired’ by what some of our fave labels have been doing,  sequined sarouels, bustle jackets, even pointy shoulders, The Topshop lookbook almost wins us over. The thigh high boots look amazing but then again one has to see, touch and feel to believe. Topshop is still a fast fashion label and we know that great styiling can work miracles. As far as Topshop goes, The Boutique is probably the most interesting section, as the retailer tends to partner with edgy-er  labels like Mario Schwab, Preen , Johnathan Saunders and Emma Cook , the designer of these really interesting sandals,slightly  reminiscent of Prada’s fall ‘08.

I have always been a fan of designer partnerships with mass retailers,” Sui told WWD exclusively. “I think it is a great way to bring fashion to everyone. I love Go International and was intrigued with Target’s new take on designer partnerships. It’s a fresh approach. I was able to select a muse or source of creative inspiration to focus the collection around. It is an exciting challenge to try and interpret my aesthetic into a mass-produced product with a specific inspirational source as the focus.”via wwd

The last target collabo I lost it for was Proenza Schouler and really the rest has been a blur, I can’t keep up. Let’s see how this one goes. Although the Gossip Girl inspiration cited in the article worries me a bit. Regardless Anna Sui rocks! What’s the next  one ? Balmain for Gap ? Balenciaga for Topshop ? or Prada for H&M…

Here’s another image from opening night at the NY TopShop launch party, where we get a peak of the shoe offerings. I’m not overwhelmed by what I’m what I’m seeing here, people.  Then again, I am super picky about my shoes in that I will spend money I don’t have to obtain ones that both standout from a design perspective and use high quality materials.

Btw, the guy in the image is Sir Philip Green, who owns TopShop and is INSANELY wealthy. According to Wiki, he is Britain’s seventh richest man! I wonder if that includes Queenie??

The celebs came out last night to attend the opening of TopShop in Manhattan. Our fave (from a style perspective) ”Gossip Girl,” Taylor Momsen attended a VIP dinner at Balthazar, dressed in a cropped leather jacket paired with a bright pink skirt. Sultry and sexy!

 In collaboration with Fashion Targets Breast  Cancer, Topshop designers created  this cool jersey top modeled by JourdanDunn, available at Topshop UK  on  April 6,2009.  Although pink is the signature color for breast Cancer awareness the target sign in  black and white works very well.

If the hoopla behind the NYC opening of Topshop kind of leaves you indifferent  you let me break it down for ya…

If the Us store is a carbon copy of it’s european counterparts it should rock, their assortment remind me of what a Sex and the city wardrobe closet would be like, very eclectic but never really tacky…with  a vintage section ,trendy pieces, wardrobe staples , high end collabos,accessories ,a cafe all in one place without feeling like you are in a mall!

They would carry things like this cute little Playsuit that you might not have  tought you ever needed but that ends up being  just irresistible…
