In a placement that must have the execs fist-pumping, Fendi bags were highlighted in full-page spreads for the January 2011 issues of both Allure and Vogue. Allure used its Fendi photo as the lead into a great-looking editorial on the rising trend of front-flap bags, and Vogue’s “Last Look” piece, which features the brand’s “Silvano” bag, referenced the 1974 film Gruppo Di Famiglia In Un Interno, a film that features actress Silvana Mangano, whose character wears lots of Fendi. Different approaches but both articles are heralding the return of a retro shape, which also fits right in with the move to smaller bags. See the Allure editorial on the next page. Luxury-goods holding house LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton), whose names include heavy hitters Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Celine and Givenchy among many others, must be enjoying the returns on its luxury leather brands since it just pruchased 14 percent of super-status fashion house Hermes, most famous for its “Kelly” and “Birkin” (carried by Kim Kardashian above) bag styles. The rest of the company’s shares are held by members of the Hermes family. LVMH claims it’s not trying to attempt a total takeover, but given its aggressive history (check its epic attempt to grab Gucci), not everyone is buying that.

The sunglasses Fendi showed on its Spring 2011 runway got plenty of attention for their fanciness, and rightly so. They are definitely ready for their close up. To see more, Trendland takes a closer look at five additional color combos.

Apparently Kourtney wasn’t joking about her plans to move to New York, and according to the NY Post part of that move includes opening another Dash store in SoHo [Update: Racked says it's at 119 Spring between Mercer and Greene] on Spring Street. Here she is with her little sister Kim strolling the streets of the City. Kim is not fooling around with her Gucci fur, over-the-knee Fendi boots and Birken bag, and both of them went over the top with their hat game. All eyes in the fashion industry are going to be on “Black Swan,” a suspense film featuring Queen Amidala, thanks to Rodarte’s participation as costume designer. The red carpet at the Venice premiere yesterday didn’t disappoint (Waaah–why can’t  Hollywood events be like this??), and as lovely as Portman’s red Rodarte gown was, she had lots of worthy competition, including and especially the lux white gown worn by Delfina Fendi featured above. There have been fox tails from LV and fur powder puffs from Fendi, and now New York-retailer Oak is jumping in the fray with its horse hair key chain. This version is a little more shakey than the latter two if only because onlookers might be inclined to wonder if that’s some hapless hair extension that happened to get stuck on your belt loop. First there was Marc Jacob’s fur tails being hung from everything in sight, and now via TheLoveMagazine, Fendi steps up with it’s fur puff-ball charm. Insanely delightful and would look oh-so-cute attached to a bag or even as a charm on a bracelet.

Here we present 22-year-old accessory designer Delfina Delettrez’s latest collection, called “My World,” as photographed by Dan Tobin Smith (who shot Jay-Z’s most recent album cover).  According to Nowness, accessory design is in Delettrez’s blood. Her father is jeweler Bertrand Delettrez and her mom is Fendi’s accessories director Silvia Venturini Fendi.  Her latest collection was inspired by the Mayan calendar, which highlights 2012 as a year of rebirth for the world.
