highsnobette wgsn fashion 540x452 WGSNs First Global Fashion Awards Ceremony

WGSN hosted the first annual global fashion awards last night at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Thanks to our fashion fairies, we had the opportunity to attend the lavish fashion event.  The  big media buzz was of course  Alber Elbaz winning the ”Most Influential Womenswear Designer” award (Can’t believe Alex Wang did not?). While the highlight of the night for us  had to be  seeing Iris Apfel receiving the “Global Fashion Icon” award sporting a huge peacock pin,  feathers and lots of bangles.  Another wow moment was meeting Nicholas Kirkwood who won “Most Influential Footwear Designer.” We tweeted some  the winners live, but  on the next page you’ll get a glance into what we saw and the complete list.

KMTopShopDM1 414x540 Kate Moss X TopShop Fall Collection Preview Images

We’ve seen the video of Kate Moss’s final collection with TopShop and now we get some images.  The sweater is cute but the two on the next page are just okay. Though it appears Moss has super powers when it comes to whatever she attaches her image to so I don’t think it matters much how they look! TS2011Sophy2 TopShop Unique Runway Spring 2011

TopShop Unique showed yesterday during London Fashion Week, and after a week of generally staid hair and makeup choices at the NY shows, TopShop’s big hair and cherry red lips was a refreshing change. As for the rest, the futuristic hippy looks were best, especially the satin dresses and tops featuring warm graphics and the the shoes in general (tassles plus lucite!) were very different and neat-o. The image on this page is via SophyRobson, who did the nails–go check ‘em out on her site! More on the flip from Insideout, the TopShop blog.

SoHo Store Fronts: March 2010

StoreFrontLouis SoHo Store Fronts: March 2010

After making my forever longed for visit to Valley Salon for a manicure (will be posting a feature later that includes an interview with co-owner Julia) I took a stroll around SoHo to snap some shots of storefronts. It was a super sunny day, which is not the best for photographing glass, but ehh, I want to make this a regular feature so I went with what I could get to get the ball moving.

What’s surprising is how crummy some of the windows are and not just because they need a good wash. Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu were fantastic (as they usually are),  and I especialy admired how the LV window recalled themes from the Spring 2010 show.  But given their usually impeccable runway presentations, I was a little disappointed by Chanel and very disappointed by Burberry.

After the flip find more images of the retailers mentioned here, plus Tokidoki (predictable) and TopShop (totally average).

Rodarte x Target…Oh My!!!!

people with pencils rodarte 540x392 Rodarte x Target...Oh My!!!!

Wwd reports: Rodarte be bringing their ethereal sensibility to a wider world when Target introduces Rodarte in December as part of its Go International series of limited collections. The 55-piece Rodarte line for Go International will launch at most Target stores nationwide and on target.com on Dec. 20, and will be available through Feb. 6.

While it may be hard to imagine translating Rodarte’s hand-wrought designs for the mass market, Target claims to have stayed true to the spirit of the luxury-priced label. “What you’ll notice is an amazing eye for detail,” said Joshua Thomas, a Target spokesman. “It’s very feminine, yet very modern. The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering.” Prices for Target’s Go International Rodarte collection will range from $9.99 for knee-highs to $79.99 for a leopard print jacket. “

We admire the Mulleavy sister’s talent ,and cannot wait to see this, a major step for Target. Can we say we have seen it ALL in the world of high end and Mass collaborations? I’m Suprised that they did not work with  H&M or Topshop .Is  Chanel next?
