The issue with Missoni is that all by itself it sometimes can look cheapish but then you add in Target’s factories handling the making of this collaboration and the snob in me has some doubts about how the clothes will look on the rack. It doesn’t help that manufacturing costs are way up this year and most retailers (especially ones like Target) have downgraded the materials they use to keep their profits from taking hits. But whatever, I imagine for early-arrivers there will be a few items worth grabbing. #tryingnot2bcynical&failing

A little out of it folks…been gone on a journey of sorts for about the past two weeks. Thank goodness for SGP holding down the fort, bless her heart–seriously. Anyway, here’s the first Missoni for Target ad. Product hits store September 13th. The guy’s cardigan is kind of cute, but so often these collabos fall short of the hype when it comes to the quality of the actual garments that hit the floor. Via Fashionfoisgras.

This Converse running shoe featuring materials designed by Misonni was shown on the label’s Spring 2012 men’s runway. It’s kind of like a sweater for the foot, right? According to HS,  it was only for show and won’ sell at retail….awwww.

The Target collaboration with Missoni is the first one in a while at the big-box retailer that fashion lovers have been excited about so you will find these images from the ad photo shoot all over the style blogs today. The idea is that they were taken on the sly, but judging from the quality and range, and the fact that they landed first on TFS, one cannot help but suspect they were intentionally leaked.

As announced by Vogue, Missoni and Target are collaborating on  a 400-piece assortment  set to be released on September 13th through October 22nd. The line will hit Target stores nationwide ! More at Vogue.

In an ad featuring actress Leighton Meester (check her at 00:49), Missoni makes the most of its color and geometrics in a video that’s fun, artsy and inclusive.

Laetitia Crahay By Olivier Zahm

Nowness tracked down three of France’s most influential style setters, Vogue Paris editor Carine Roitfeld, actress Laetitia Crahay and head of accessories for Chanel and artistic director for Maison Michel Josephine de la Baume and asked what their wardrobe plans are for New Year’s. Replied Roitfeld (image above), “New Year’s Eve is not my favorite day, so I have no plans. I guess I’ll be wearing a nightgown.” Crahay plans on a “men’s Lederhosen” outfit and de la Baume will go with “a long Missoni poncho,” and of course….”plenty of Chanel and Maison Michel accessories.”
