Designer Luxirare does it again, this time customizing a kid’s Adidas’s track suit for her poochie, Rocky. This female never ceases to amaze. See more pics of the pup, plus images of Luxirare herself, pairing a Celine blouse with Adidas track pants on the next page.

CFDA announced its 2011 fashion award nominees and honoree recipients yesterday. The Womenswear Designer Award is the most coveted and this year the competition is super tight! There’s industry standard bearer Marc Jacobs (who won the award last year), crowd favorite Proenza Schouler (who we think “won” NY Fashion Week) and the king of Downtown New York, Alexander Wang, who was nominated for two additional awards, Accessory Designer Award and Swarovski Award for Menswear. Does Wang get it this year? You have to consider him the favorite if only because Jacobs has won it three times and the Proenza Schouler boys won it in 2007, and as such it might have the feel of a snub if he’s denied again.
See more nominees and recipients on the next page, including Lady Gaga who was awarded a well-deserved Fashion Icon Award.

Our favortie gown on the red carpet for the Academy Awards was worn by Brazilian-born model and girlfriend of Matthew McConaughey, Camila Alves. It helps of course that she is a professional beauty, but really the neckline of this dress (even if the skirt is a bit much) and the glossy black color against her skin, plus her perfect hair, makeup and accessories are what make for a total gorgeous package. Heidi Klum as always look fantastic, but she was dressed for a viewing party hosted by Elton John and wasn’t an official Oscar red carpet walker. Some fashion site last week had hinted that celebs this year were ready to be inspired by Lady Gaga’s more adventerous style and as such there would be plenty for Joan Rivers to mock, but alas, everyone must have chickened out at the last minute because gown choices were as conservative as ever.
More images on the next page including Heidi Klum, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Kate Blanchett, Marisa Tomei and a few others.

Clean and classic but never at the expense of artistry….that is why Celine is the reigning queen of the minimalist movement. More on the next page. Via Popbee.

We posted the perfect shoe for Spring 2011 by Celine last week, and now Popbee is giving us an expanded view of the collection. As with that shoe, we’re seeing a collection whose theme is artful balance of slick and serene, like the rflective metal heel on the sandal shown here played against the natural tan and thick leather straps on the upper. The bags, many of which play hemp against contrasting leather strips and stud details, convey the same message–laid back but with bite.

These palomino-colored Celine pumps may not leap from the page but in many ways they epitomize the look of Spring 2011. The design is slick yet simple, providing the perfect platform for the down-to-earth color and materials story. Sort of like that captivating stranger whose one glance brings to mind feelings of familiarity from forever and a day. Via WWD.

Luxury-goods holding house LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton), whose names include heavy hitters Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Celine and Givenchy among many others, must be enjoying the returns on its luxury leather brands since it just pruchased 14 percent of super-status fashion house Hermes, most famous for its “Kelly” and “Birkin” (carried by Kim Kardashian above) bag styles. The rest of the company’s shares are held by members of the Hermes family. LVMH claims it’s not trying to attempt a total takeover, but given its aggressive history (check its epic attempt to grab Gucci), not everyone is buying that.

Slipping on these rabbit-fur-lined, velvet (!!) Celine sandals has to feel akin to rolling around on a four-poster bed with satin sheets covered in one-hundred dollar bills…..just sick, sick, sick levels of decadence. Needless to say, I am dying of love. Via Newyorktimes. Not for sale yet, but look for them to show up eventually at KirnaZabete.

We finally get a closer look of the man behind the lens, Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil blog fame, who was interview by Dazed Digital on the opening of his exhibit “Pic Me Tommy Ton” at Canadian lux retailer, Holt Renfrow (where, irony of ironies, Ton once worked as temporary holiday help). In the interview, Ton talks about his designer obsessions, also his fave subjects, and when asked about who he wants to see in the upcoming New York shows, responds, “Reed Krakoff. And Celine, of course. But more than anything I just love the feeling you get of being at fashion weeks, surrounded by all the freaks. It’s like being at Hogwarts.” Cute!

With all the emphasis on bright eye liner, it’s not surprising that some of that color has migrated to the eyebrows, a fresh look that I adore even more than the Crayola-colored locks trend. This image is from V Magazine’s “Woman in Full” editorial and once again, the emphasis is on more voluminous 50s-inspired looks. I’m trying not to be bitter because personally this is one of my least favorite fashion eras. My theory is that designers are looking to reset the bar in an effort to shift away from punky looks, but I don’t see it working because it’s too violent of a swing. More likely I see women shifting over to trousers and the like–at least that’s what I hope anyway! Down with the oppresive, styfling and hypocritical ’50s!
Models featured in the shoot are Miranda Kerr (wearing Prada), Karolina Kurkova (wearing Yves Saint Laurent and Celine) and Jacquelyn Jablonski (wearing Valentino and Calvin Klein Collection). More looks after the flip.
