As one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential, Blake Lively attended a gala last night, hosted by the publication with her luxurious tresses changed from blonde to red. Reviews seem to be mixed (with some at Glamour where we got this pic accusing her of looking like Ariel the mermaid!) though it’s hard not to conclude this move will endear her a bit more with the Chanel-o-philes who thought she was too bland and boring to front the label’s Madesmoiselle bag campaign. Certainly this spices up her image a tad.
Beautiful quality and workmanship…..nobody does mean and vicious better than Fendi. Designer Karl Lagerfeld may receive far more recognition for his Chanel bags, but looking at his bag designs for Fendi, one gets the feeling this label is his secret favorite, or at least the one that allows him to most express the devil within. Here are Chanel’s nail polish shades for Summer 2011. They’re part of a summer makeup collection called, “Les Fleurs d’Ete de Chanel.” The “Mimosa” yellow has received tons of press already. The other shades are cute, but hardly groundbreaking. To see the makeup in the collection visit Temptalia.
Though we love to feature bags by the current hottest hands in the game (LV, Chanel, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Fendi, Hermes), who much like elite athletes make their greatness seem easy, it’s always nice to come across a label like Wayuu Taya, which makes up for label status with design strength and affordability. It’s an added bonus that the bags are made in the Guajira Peninsula in South America by the ladies of the Wayuu community, who receive a portion of the sales. Available at Bonadrag. You can also buy other colors direct from the Wayuu Taya Foundation.

Karl Lagerfeld hosted a coming out party in Paris for his latest collaboration with Coca-Cola Light. It featured a bunch of Lagerfeld look-a-likes, and a bevvy of beautiful models and actresses. Singer Uffie is shown above. We spoke yesterday about the great exchanges that can come from collaborations, but this one has always rubbed the wrong way. It’s meaning is simply lost on me–no offense to the diet soda addicts in the crowd!
After the flip, images of Lagerfeld, plus more of Uffie (including a close up on her shoes), Lily Cole, Audrey Marnay, Lou Lesage, Beatrice Rosen and Nicole Trunfio.
Very much in step with this season’s love affair with stripes, Chanel offers a “Petit Shopping” bag, as part of a The Away Project, a shop in shop organized by Nike and Colette in an effort to celebrate France’s national soccer team, which is sponsored by Nike. Other labels in on the stripiness include Comme des Garçons, Hermès, Ladurée, Longchamp, MontBlanc, Swatch, Trousselier and Yves Saint Laurent.
If you follow us on Twitter you might have noticed our raving about British actress Malgosia Garnys, who has an intense love for fashion and a good pair of high top sneakers. Today we give you a peek into the Vogue Italia “Curvy” feature on Garnys by Nicolette Mason & Catherine Westergaard:
Malgosia Garnys originally from Poland, but after a stint in London is now living in New York City, has defined her own Tomboy-ish style by adding feminine details and flourishes. Through her international adventures, she’s discovered her own character bothas a woman and as an actress. With an affinity for Japanese street style, and powerful talents like Melissa Leo, Malgosia shows promise as part of a new generation of young performers.

Another sneak peek from the upcoming film promoting Chanel’s frangrance, Coco Mademoiselle. Fronted by Keira Knightly and directed by Joe Wright, this spot features the actress in a beige Chanel jump suit about to take a spin on a Ducati 750SS Cafe Racer motorcycle. (A site dedicated to the Cafe Racer has stills of Knightly on the bike, which were taken during the making of the film.) The full feature will be shown on Chanel’s site on March 21st.
Chanel presented its Autumn 2011 ready-to-wear collection for Paris Fashion Week today and as always the arrivals were as entertaining as the runway presentation itself. Karl’s girls always go all out, many of them wearing Chanel head to toe or at the very least carrying a quilted bag or clutch. Above is major girl of the moment, Alexa Chung, on the next page Lily Allen, Anna Wintour, Duffy, Emma Roberts, Leigh Lezark, plus a few more.
