Alex Wang + Zoe Kravitz + Abbey Lee

WangRTWVidoStillWWD Alex Wang + Zoe Kravitz + Abbey Lee

Alex Wang has big ad plans for Fall, starting with a print poster campaign featuring daughter-of-a-rock-star Zoe Kravitz and model Max Motta. Then, Wang will be joining his fashion industry peers with a video advertisement, featuring model Abbey Lee. According to Wang, “It’s very moody and seductive,” and it shows Abbey Lee “dancing and moving along.” In other words, totally par for the course for fashion vids and probably not even unintentionally funny like Chanel’s video ad featuring 17-year-old models and 50-year-old men. Look for the video to premiere on Wang’s site this Wednesday, plus WWD, French Vogue, Love and Style. Via Racked.

P.S. While you’re visiting Racked, check out its post on Ana Wintour’s “Worst Outfit Ever.” It could possibly make your day or will at the very least brighten it.

NickiKendoWarriorOutfit Labels Featured in Nicki Minaj Your Love Video

We already did a post highlighting the appearance of Lace by Tanaya earrings in the Nicki Minaj “Your Love,” video, and after some lengthy searching I found a site that details the stylists and labels. Nicki’s style team is lead by Nicki Schwan and in this video her hair is done by Terrance Davidson. In the above image, Minaj is wearing a custom Kendo warrior outfit designed by Marco Marco. On Minaj’s personal style, her stylist says:

“Nicki has a great sense of personal style. She’s developing her platform. To be part of her team to help mold her and her image has been great. Now we’ve gotten to a point where she can push the envelope a lot more. And we’re going through a beautiful transition where she wants to keep unique edge and she wants to step it up. She wants to be sexier and more classic.”

Nicki Minaj ‘Your Love’ Video Featuring Lace Earrings!

22 July 2010, 22.15 | Posted in Uncategorized | 3 comments »

Nicki Minaj’s “Your Love” music video has been shut down in most places, but MTV has one featuring a behind-the-scenes look, which shows Minaj wearing none other than Tanaya Henry’s Lace earrings!! We have a feature coming up on Tanaya so we’re pretty excited for her–couldn’t happen to a nicer woman.

UPDATE: This is the actual video. After the flip I added the behind-the-scenes look, in which Nick is interviewed in the outfit featuring Lace.

Calvin Klein ‘Censored’ Ad

 CKAd1 Calvin Klein Censored Ad

Calvin Klein is doing this supposedly very clever thing where it’s putting up billboards with the “QR code” (whatever the eff that means!)  featured here and nothing else. The hope I guess is that the curious will try to uncover the mystery via online search where they will be directed to  use their Smart phones (don’t know what that is either!) to access a video of the brand’s Fall 2010 ads. According to Mashable, where the image is from, this all started  in Japan (of course) to push the consumer to engage with the brand and track how many people care. Personally I find the scheme intensely irritating, not in small part because for all its edgy marketing, this is a brand that makes most of its money selling off-price crap at Costco and in outlets. That being said, Lara Stone (more images of her later) is tied up in all this and since I’m obsessed with her I feel compelled to post about it. Yes, I was the sucker born on my day.

After the flip is a Calvin Klein fall 2010 ad, which features Stone. Whether or not it’s the same one tied to the billboard I have no idea.

 Mara Hoffman Cover up Dress

Was visiting Miami yesterday and I have to say the people watching was as piping hot as ever. To be honest it’s not so much a Mecca for beautiful men as it is gorgeous young women, but okay, the looking is still good either way. I pulled this Mara Hoffman cover-up dress before I came to Florida but it feels appropriate since my visit to the beach….even if it is way too covered up for Miami. More after the flip.

Common Projects Introduces Women’s Footwear

22 Common Projects Introduces Womens Footwear

From what I can figure in my attempts to follow the thread is that this women’s line by Common Projects was announced last year but hit retail in May, putting this post waay behind the curve. But whatever, chances are many of you didn’t see it the back then and frankly I’ve invested too much time in the post to delete it!  The line is largely menswear inspired, specifically the chukka, oxford and sneaker. The thing is, right now there isn’t a shoe company in the world–including Nike–that isn’t finding selling females sneakers as a lifestyle item (versus performance) a very tough bid. Still, the shoes are eminently wearable and exactly right for now. Do they get your vote, ladies? Many more after the flip.
