lum2 cov Introducing: Luminary Autumn/Winter 2009

The Space Blockade” is the theme of the premier  collection by design collective of the Luminary. Inspired by art and architecture ,using  geometry  and negative space  to create a  collection with an edgy unisex appeal that we love, and marks the continuation of Folasade Ologundudu’s  foray into accessory design.

A closer look at the Luminary’s Space Blockade on the next page.

WESC at Magic

weschounds WESC at Magic

WESC is no doubt these days feeling itself. Not sure how it pulled it off or how long it will last, but it’s managed to position itself as having the feeling of the streets while still throwing off posh vibes. Not a bad lane to be occupying at all. The women’s line is relatively new–just a couple years old, but I’m liking what I’m seeing (and I think it’s Autumn 2009 but I’m not positive). This front-tie shirt stood out for the houndstooth pattern of course. WESC was showing plaid wovens just like everyone else, but they added flavor to the line by going a little bit out on a limb with this pattern.

On the other side is a woven top, dress and a couple of cute bags. I also threw up an image of the limited edition (as in five pairs only) men’s denim jeans, which feature real gold threading.

Nike Dunk Pucci-Inspired Pack

nkepucci Nike Dunk Pucci Inspired Pack

Cute right? But be clear, this is not a Nike Dunk Pucci collabo, just a Pucci-INSPIRED design. Pucci should sue Swooshy for design infringement just like Nike does to everyone else. Except, oh wait, Nike’s team of lawyers is probably only a billion times bigger than Pucci’s so they automatically lose.  After all it’s not whether you’re right or wrong, it’s who has the bigger stack of dollars.

Thanks to Dunk for the images.

Fergie and Kim K at Posh Vanity Fair Event

fergkim Fergie and Kim K at Posh Vanity Fair Event

Not sure what the reason for this Vanity Fair magazine gathering was, but judging from how everyone was dressed, it was a pretty highfalutin affair. I couldn’t help but notice that the party included two women who have been featured in our “Guess the Celebrity Rack” stories–that being Keyshia Cole and Kim Kardashian. Kim looks great here. She may make her share of mistakes, but one thing she knows how to do well is play up her ASSets and sultry Armenian good looks. Fergie on the other hand, I’m not so sure about. This dress I’m not feeling. It’s got a sort of Century 21 Edge to it that’s bugging me. I love the Fergster as a preformer and an entertainer but I’m never sure what style lane she’s shooting for. She confuses me and not in a good way!

On the flip is Fergie and Kehshia, whose dress also bugged me. From the front it was insanely busy and worse yet, you could only see her lovely boobies from the side!

Name the Model Giveaway Contest!!

suzannepericcrop Name the Model Giveaway Contest!!

Who's this girl????

Pay attention, people ’cause this post is going to be a little  jumbled. Düsseldorf-based designer Suzana Peric showed her collection at Berlin Fashion Week a couple days back and it was great–lots of prints and color and flowiness. Though she’s not as refined as Diane Von Furstenberg or as WASPY as Tory Burch, the three of them have similar tribal roots.

What really caught my eye though is the model that I have featured here in my post. I have no idea who she is but would like to know. If you are the first to give me irrefutable evidence (like a link to her image that includes her name) of her identity you will be awarded with a pair of the DC Shoes featured on the site yesterday. In your size natch! Good luck and send your guesses to HighSnobette@Hotmail.com

RedRubyRose Silk-Lined Swan Clutch

27 January 2009, 00.57 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Etsy is like a never-ended treasure trove, the best part being the items handmade by its members. I’m pretty much 110 percent over the whole woodlandcreature-in-silhouette trend, but this swan-themed clutch by U.K.-based member RedRubyRose somehow rises above the feathered-fray. Rose  hand sews these framed clutches, using both vintage fabrics and custom-made fabric featuring her own designs and photographic images. Oh cheez, Mami, save a little creativity for the rest of us peons!
