Photographer Brock Fetch: Iggy Azalea, ASAP Crew, Etc.

BrockFetch 540x358 Photographer Brock Fetch: Iggy Azalea, ASAP Crew, Etc.

Was doing a deep dive on Tumblr last night and worked my way back to photographer Brock Fetch’s site and thought I would share the goodness. He does a lot of concert photography and seems to be almost a staff photographer for the ASAP crew. A side benefit is the fashion worn by his subjects. (On that note, can I tell you how much I am appreciating the new Harlem youth’s interpretation of grunge, with the Dr. Martens and flannel shirts, triple luv!)

That’s Iggy Azalea peforming above. She along with nine other performers recently were featured on the cover of  XXL’s “Freshman Class” issue, for which a spot was supposedly offered to and turned down by ASAP Rocky. Quite the chess player that one!

Santigold Album Cover Ft. Art By Kehinde Wiley

SantigoldAlbumArt 532x540 Santigold Album Cover Ft. Art By Kehinde Wiley

Santigold has released today the album art for “Master of My Make-Believe,” which launches May 1st. Photographed by Jason Schmidt, the cover features her in three different personas, including one in which she plays the part of two guards wearing gold Alexander Wang bodysuits. The real coup though is that’s her in the portrait as painted by Kehinde Wiley using Banastre Tarleton’s work, titled “Portrait of an Officer” as inspiration A big deal on its own, but on top of that, this is the first time Wiley–known for his portraits of black urban males placed in classic paintings, has included a woman in his work. Louboutin Vs. YSL

25 January 2012, 20.52 | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 comment »

DitaScarlett&Christian

Christian Louboutin, getting an assist from the fabulous Diane Von Furstenberg, was back in court yesterday, trying to convince the three judges overseeing the case now that the last judge who ruled against him was wrong. (In case you’re totally behind, Louboutin sued YSL for making red-bottom shoes, arguing that it infringes on what has become his brand’s trademark. He lost the first go round.)

No shocker but we’re totally team Louboutin over here. Not anything against YSL, but  let the man have his red bottoms. He earned them for goodness sake. And from a purely aesthetic perspective, you take the red soles away and you have everyone and Payless churning out red-bottom shoes, a totally wretch of a situation that no one wants to see.

Isaac Mizrahi Dishes About Wedding On Wendy Williams Show

05 January 2012, 17.55 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

Isaac Mizrahi appeared yesterday on Wendy Williams and dished on his November wedding. Normally when someone talks wedding details, in my head I’m like, please stop talking no one cares, but there is something still endearing about hearing a gay person go on about their big day, especially since it can now be done officially in New York.

Coincidentally Mizrahi was married by a justice of the peace on November 30th, same day and method as Wendy, who has long been an advocate of taking the cheap, civil ceremony route, rather than dumping thousands on a big party instead of a down payment or whatnot. And I swear I have so far managed one New Year’s resolution and that is to attend one of Wendy’s shows–a long time major friend in my head.

Plan For Kardashian Barbie Dolls

05 January 2012, 17.38 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

KardashianBarbiesButYou'reLikeReallyPretty

US Weekly magazine brings the news that Barbie has plans for a collaboration with the Kardashians and judging from the comment section, people are not happy about the idea. And by not happy I mean super angry about it. The Kardashians always have had their haters and in general among a certain segment of the population there is this fury over the whole concept of reality tv, but it seems ever since “the wedding,” the venom has ratcheted up a few notches. Is it the overexposure? The seemingly endless number of projects and public appearances? Hard to say. My guess is that it’s that good ole human penchant for building a star up and with just as much relish tearing him/her down.
