Neon ss2011

Designed by Dudu bertholini and Rita Comparato Neon  artfully blends swimwear and sportswear. On the first  day of July, this collection  proves my longtime belief that a scuba suit  silhouette can be worn with heels as a knockout summer outfit. Enjoy a look at Neon for next Spring on the flip.Images Marcelo Soubhia/Fotosite.

BET Award Show Arrivals: Ciara, Nia Long, Eva Pigford…

BETCiara BET Award Show Arrivals: Ciara, Nia Long, Eva Pigford...

There was quite the cornucopia of dresses for the BET awards this past weekend. Ciara looked very chic in what I assume is Givenchy, but a bit too gothic for the month of June (tho her mani is good–it looks like a gold and white Ruffian). Estelle gets my vote for best dressed though she and everyone else in general was sort of toned down. There was one, okaaaaaay-dress, worn by Brittany Daniel, but points to her for taking a chance and providing people the opportunity to point and whisper.

Tab of M.O.B.’s ‘Ins & Outs’ List

HairviaMOB

Tabitha, one of the head mobsters and anchors of the Married to the M.O.B. team has her latest “Ins & Outs” list up over at the M.O.B. blog. This time she goes in on “studs, print vomit, bindi’s and hair dye.” Sometimes in getting caught up in how funny she writes, you forget that she makes some great points about not just fashion but also life!

Here’s an excerpt from the post she did on hair dye (accompanying image above):

You know what? I can’t even really hate on that bitches Easter basket hair piece. Lourdes sent me the photo a while back after her friend took it while standing behind the culprit at a Burger King and even though it’s the tackiest thing I’ve ever seen, she definitely gets points for originality. I mean, imagine how she must have looked at her prom. Amazing. But in all honesty this is really just about the current “performance dressing” craze, and even though this particular lady has probably been doing her hair like that since before GaGa was even born, it doesn’t mean that anybody else should. Enough with the hair sculptures and flying shoes, let’s all just chill out and stop trying to outdo the next chick. If you think it’s cool taking fashion advice from a woman who wore Kermit the Frog’s entire family as dress and matching hat, that’s your own problem.

Chanel RTW Fall/Winter 2011: Still Furred The Eff Out!

Chanel Fur, Fur, Fur!

In case anyone thought Karl was playing around when he showed his fall collection a couple months back featuring beautiful young women role-playing as plushies, his ready-to-wear fall 2010-2011 collection, which he showed in Tokyo today, shows he was dead serious. And while there were fewer teddy bears attempting to navigate the runway this time, fur was still flying everywhere. On the one hand, I love the furry looks. They actually cause me to bust out laughing when I think about them. On the other hand…well, I suppose there is no downside unless you’re a Chanel exec, wondering what the market is for rich society women willing to sip tea dressed as a sports team mascot (though oh god how I wish they would!)

Many more furry looks after the flip….the fur underpants–a tribute of sorts I suppose to Gaga/Beyonce–were my faves by far.

Louis Vuitton Opens Boutique in Saint-Tropez

LVSTP4 Louis Vuitton Opens Boutique in Saint Tropez

Following on the heels of Chanel, Louis Vuitton opened a boutique in Saint-Tropez last week, we are told via JalouNews. The ”Neverfull” tote featured on this page is one of the items being offered that are unique to the location. On the next page are exterior and interior images of the store. What’s fascinating is how quiet the branding is–you can barely make out the Louis Vuitton on the storefront. There are probably local laws governing signage but still, it’s fascinating how brands use their retail space to extend their image.

INTTimHoward World Cup: The Americans (Are HOT!)

When you’re a sports fan that appreciates the beauty of men, when watching events there’s always the added bonus of checking out the various and sundry hotties. Soccer has never been a sport I follow, but one cannot deny that when it comes to great physiques, their athletes win the contest over other sports hands down. They’re ripped, perfectly proportioned and basically perfect. Blessings on Interview magazine, who dirtied up some of the stars from the American team for a photo shoot entitled “The Americans,” and also interviewed them. This page features goalkeeper and Jersey boy Tim Howard. For more beefcake loveliness, flip to the next page.

UMHC1 Puma X Hussein Chalayan: Urban Mobility Bag Collection

Here is another offering from the collaboration between Puma and Turkish-born designer Hussein Chalayan. This time it’s bags, which are again being offered as part of Puma’s “Urban Mobility” collection. Solene Roure, who worked with Chalayan to create the collection, says on the bags, “Those bags are super practical. They offer multiple pockets. Innovative material. We focused on creating new silhouettes and slouchy appeal. The straps create a ‘organised mess’ which makes the bags so unique.”
