The Fendi colored-lens sunglasses that everyone was oohing and ahhing over from the Spring 2011 runway are starting to hit retail. According to a commentor on Fendi’s Facebook page these are limited to the extreme and only available at Fendi stores in North America. Even it the commentor is correct, one has to assume that eventually they’ll show up at all Fendi stores.

Sold exclusively online, Illesteva launches the “Dear Mama” eyewear dedicated to mothers all over the world.  They’re available as sunglasses and optical frames and made of horn-colored acetate and part of the proceeds will be donated to the charity “Help a Mother Out,” a mom-run grass-roots charity that collects diapers and raises money for the purchase of diapers to benefit families in need. Maison Martin Margiela has issued a video illustrating its Spring/Summer 2011 eyewear offerings. There are two styles, “Anatomic,” an enlarged rounded shape that envelopes the face and “Wrong Size,” which features lenses that don’t quite fit the frame. In a clever presentation befitting this artful brand, the glasses are shown on a graphic that mimics an eye chart. Via Anyonegirl.

Designed by women for women Lumete Eyewear is the brainchild of Clara Herrera and Barbara Warren , whose goal is to provide unique eyewear anchored on comfort craftsmanship and of course style. Each pair of sunglasses comes with a ‘Lumete Treasure Bag’ comprising of items companion pieces to help clean and carry the eyewear. Not only only do we love the attention to detail, this is the kind of eyewear that is fierce with the hair toss , and the finger snap! Forever with its eye on projecting itself artfully, Prada has commissioned three illustrators to interpret the “Minimal-Baroque” collection of sunglasses from the Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection in a series of drawings to be used as part of this season’s campaign. This is an entire personal quirk I realize, but for whatever reason, I have never been a fan of fashion illustrations to the point where they even irritate me! That being said, some of these are quite nice, though that just might be because the collection itself was not only strong, but very graphics and color oriented so it translated well to illustration. Via Dazeddigital.

Last week we attended the celebration for Mykita eyewear’s Spring 2011 campaign shot by photographer Mark Borthwick (Maria Cornejo’s hubby). The  campaign marks the third year of the label’s collaboration with Borthwick whose images convey a sense poetry and nostalgia,  as if the images were photographs of those casual beautiful  moments of everyday life. The theme or tag line is taken form one of my all time favorite books “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint Exhupery “since it is beautiful, it is truly useful…” On the next page, enjoy a look at our faves on the flip as well as the little shinding that took place.

Berlin based Jurgen Mayer H. Architects partners with IC! Berlin on a collection of sunglasses. The aesthetic of the capsule collection is to “reflect the asymetry of the human face with each side of asymmetric glasses which shift and change from one side of the frame to the other, a subtle answer to the asymmetry of human faces.” More styles on the next page, via designboom.

German-based sunglass company Mykita has paired up with NY artist Agathe Snow to create a line of “Cyrus” sunglasses, which feature city skylines and monuments. Which skyline this particular set features….no idea. New York featuring the former Twin Towers? Available at Colette.
