Without apology or irony Nasir once again is inspired by and pays tribute to up-from-the-street fashion for his Spring 2012 collection, this time with athletic-inspired looks leaping to the forefront. Commenting on his collection, designer Nasir Mazhar tells Vogue U.K:

“I’m showing people that if you’re into grime, why does that have to be dismissed? It’s a style. I’m trying to show that there’s this whole UK scene in London that’s really inventive and original. I’m trying to make people aware of one of the last subcultures. This season we’ve done four menswear outfits and I really like the tracksuit. It’s the beginning of us doing menswear, moving on from just accessories and hats.”

UPDATE: The top boss, Sharmadean, at WAH nails checked in and of course the art was done by her salon. She and Nasir are long-time buddies and she has collaborated with him in the past. When I asked her about the show’s nail art design theme, she explained, “We did glitters with tiger stripes. It was meant to be London street kids on a Caribbean holiday!”

We caught this lovely lass on the way out of the Surface To Air store-opening party in SoHo last week. She was serving up free (and delicious) ice cream from a truck brought in for the event. Check out her nail game!

Me and SGP were cracking ourselves up after, trying to guess her ethnicity and agreeing that the standard formula for white chicks in NYC with flavor is to conclude they’re Russian. She’s slick, wears gold, has edgy style….Russian! Meanwhile, she’s probably straight from Iowa with a family line that goes back to the Mayflower.

Our buddies at Married to the Mob have just added the Autumn 2011 line to the brand’s store. Offerings include the popular “Milton Glaser” hoddie, brought back from the Autumn 2011 collection. As for credits, that’s Sarah, sister of designer Leah McSweeney, above with the mic in her, err, hand, and on the next page, see a couple of new men’s additions modeled by Kai Perez (son of photographer, Shadi).

 The funny aspect of having your  fave things in style is when they become trends and all of a sudden you see “how-to” features on how to achieve a look or wear a certain piece. Dame SJP is seen here rocking pretty awesomely a pair of white pumps which has been co-Snobette Lois’ thing like forever. Is this a sign that after the blush tones, white shoes are next for ”it” shoes status? Images via Ohlala.

Project was fun on so many levels, as observers it became clear that the focus on menswear in the show also fostered a well rounded assortment of super talented, effotlessly stylish men. And thus a plan was hatched between ourselves and the ladies of hearty magazine to have a “Babe Battle,” pitting our top ten hotty picks in attendance a the show against theirs. It was ridiculously fun spotting and photographing all the cuties, though we admit to feeling a tad guilty as our subjects prattled on about whatever brands it was they were wearing, while we were in our minds all, “Yeah yeah yeah….angle your head that way so we get a better view of your stubble, forearms, thighs, etc!” (Honorable mention for Tim Broadhagen and Raif  Adelberg whose images just vanished in SD card universe.) We totally had a Bill Cunningham moment  while being part of the Blogger Project, at the Project Tradeshow earlier this week in Las Vegas, as women all over decided to rock a fishtail hem.  Not that the hem, is a novelty in itself but, the concentration  was noticeable and really fun to observe.Lois and I lost count, keeping in mind that we missed many photo opportunities running after possible photo subjects, and that my memory card seems to be overworked ,  we were able to snag shots of the very cool and slightly dramatic skirt silhouette.
