I am the biggest damn magpie in the world and generally even the cheapest of flashes catches my eye, but for some reason I’m not feeling these super sparkle Air Rifts. I can imagine thinking they were cute on someone else’s feet, just not mine.

One of the nicest things about doing this blog is when our readers put us on to amazing things we’d never see in a million years if it weren’t for them. After seeing our charm bracelet post yesterday, reader Bridget let us know about jewelry designer Thomas Sabo, who makes charms like you would not believe. Shoes, purses, dresses, all sorts of trinkets that would melt even the coldest fashionista’s heart melt.

This came across the news wires while I was away so sue me if you’ve already seen it on all your favorite sneaker sites! The event is a “glow-in-the-dark” charity art exhibit, featuring the work of 12 female street artists. It all goes down this Thursday, May 1st in SoHo, New Yawk.

We posted up images of this Vans Niagara collabo awhile back when Samia and I visited the Vans showroom, but here are some spiffier images that give a better view of the art:

If you’re not familiar, Niagara is a female artist, known for her femme fatale imagery. A couple of her quotes on her website are funny: “I paint real strong women; a Niagara girls [is] revengeful, but she gets her own way.” And even more humorous: “It’s the men who cry in my paintings.” Well that’s nice for a change!

I’m back from vacation. It was a wonderful trip, but it’s nice to be back in BK!

Here comes the new Nike AF1 Rainbow. Multicolor sole and laces on an all white upper with silver swoosh. Definitely not something for everybody, but if you want to be noticed, this is the way to go!

Samia, my blogging partner, believes that we have a lot of male readers. I think she might not be wrong just because a big chunk of our referrels come from HighSnobiety, whose readers have to be almost all guys.

Given the nature of this site, you would think I would read a website called KicksandChicks website regularly, but I don’t. Because even though I have no issue with women getting paid to model, if I’m going to look at images of women rocking kicks, they need to reflect a little more sincerity.

While I’m traveling as promised, I left some posts for head blogger in charge, David, to put up. Adidas kicked-off its relaunch of the Superstar yesterday. The relaunch is being done in conjunction with Facebook, where you can finds all sorts of photos and videos and all the other things that sneakerheads love.

Here’s one project that was part of the launch: Adidas created giant Superstars and had artists from Upper Playground and Surface to Air use them as a canvas/wall.

And I don’t know about you, but I’m sort of mad at Adidas right now The Superstar is an iconic style and I feel like over the past few years, Adidas has been pimping it out like a workhorse ho, with no consideration for its status as hip-hop royalty. I mean this is what, at least the 3rd time they’ve done some special, “limited” program centered around the Superstar?? Damn shame if you ask me.
