Photogrpaher Sonny did extensive coverage of Antwerp Academy’s end-of-year student show, which took place last week. Not sure who the designer is featured here (if someone knows, do tell so we can update), but he or she is from the 3rd year class. There are many, many more images at the site that are very much worthy of a view. After all, it’s always a good idea in fashion to keep an eye on and cheer the younglings.

Dior presented its oh-so-impecably cruise 2011 collection in Shanghai, everyone’s favorite new locale (oh the lure of China’s burgeoning middle class) this past Saturday. In conjunction with presentation of the cruise line, Dior celebrated the re-opening of the Plaza 66 boutique and also debuted “Lady Blue,” a film written and directed by David Lynch and starring Marion Cotillard. Karl works to get some mojo back via the sex channel, calling forth his inner Bridgett Bardot while pushing Princess Kelly to the back of the line.  It’s a fun/jaunty/entirely appropriate collection, but nothing that makes one believe it doesn’t all come back to selling lots of quilted bags.

When I think of all the work the work that goes into putting fashion shows together, I wonder why stations like the  style network for example don’t just feature shows on their regular programming. Then again maybe there are not enough fashion fiends  like yours truly out there who would watch… In that spirit enjoy a look at one of the grande dames of pret-a-porter  in Paris Sonia Rykiel   Spring/Summer 2010.

Some very eye-catching just dresses from U.K. brand Belle Sauvage just landed at Pixie Market. This label is new to me so if you’re in the same boat as me, the brand was established in 2008 and is designed by Virginia Ferreira and Christian Neuman. They’re building their name on what you see on this page–designs featuring futuristic prints and angled silhouettes. In essence it reminds me a bit of McQueen’s last collection, ‘cept considerably less detailed/technical though also at a much lower price.
