Launching at Dover Street Market on July 21st, the fragrance by Hussein Chalayan produced by Comme des Garçons is titled “Airbone,” a nod to Chalayan’s effect-filled Autumn 2007 runway. Definitelya launch we’re excited about.

However you may feel about her music, Rihanna is undeniably a numbers mover. Here she is at a recent appearance at Macy’s Herald Square to hawk her perfume Reb’l Fleur. Currently the perfume is sold at more than 5,000 doors, and in Macy’s 500 doors, it’s “consistentlyremained in a top 10 women’s fragrance at [the chain] since its launch,” according to an article in today’s WWD. Fred Purches, CEO of Parlux Fragrances, which holds the Reb’l Fleur license had this to say about the young entertainer:
“Rihanna brings a lot of energy and a lot of people. It boosts sales but it’s also about the resonance afterwards.”
One more shot after the flip of Rihanna in what has become a signature for her, beige Christian Louboutin “Pigalle” pumps.
Tom Ford has released the print campaign for a unisex scent (plus shower gel, bath soap, etc.) called Neroli Portofino. We spotted this at Fashioncopious, where the ad is viewed as a bit cheap. We can’t say we’re over the moon for it either, but we see this as more of an ongoing theme of Ford being somewhat stuck in the style themes of his salad days with Gucci. That being said, we see this as a normal part of the process of reentering the game–even when you’re one of the great ones–you stumble a bit, but stay undeterred and focused and eventually you hit your stride.
Another sneak peek from the upcoming film promoting Chanel’s frangrance, Coco Mademoiselle. Fronted by Keira Knightly and directed by Joe Wright, this spot features the actress in a beige Chanel jump suit about to take a spin on a Ducati 750SS Cafe Racer motorcycle. (A site dedicated to the Cafe Racer has stills of Knightly on the bike, which were taken during the making of the film.) The full feature will be shown on Chanel’s site on March 21st.
Launched in Europe last year, the long awaited Maison Martin Margiela “(Untitled)” fragrance, is now available in the United States. Perfectly unisex, the green notes allow for a scent that is at first fresh and green on top, then becomes more musky as time passes. Base notes include musk, incense and cedarwood, however, every whiff of it strangely reminds of an irresistible spicy chocolate. If you like your scents on the edgy ”non common” side, this is one you will just like us fall in love with…More info on the Untitled microsite.
Not the easiest story to be following, but since we’ve started down that path….Natalie Portman, who is the face of Christian Dior’s “Miss Dior Cherie” fragrance (print ad above), has issued a statement in response to the video of John Galliano, making anti-Semetic statements:
“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”
As it turns out, the video was made in December, and was separate from the incident for which Galliano was arrested last week. Via Telegraph.
Natalie Portman whose celeb status keeps ratcheting up points appears in a video for “Miss Dior Cherry,” a Christian Dior perfume, and its directed by none other than Sofia Coppola, who works her ability to create a sweet yet sophisticated ambiance. Love the scene where he pulls her back in bed.
For its Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, Meadham Kirchoff partnered with Penhalion’s to lanch a scent titled “Bleinheim bouquet.” With base notes of pine, musk and black pepper, the scent adds an olfactory element to its presentation. The Blenheim Bouquet originally created in 1902 is available here. Via Style .
We posted images of Rihanna’s perfume, Reb’l Fleur, at retail yesterday and here is the video. And while we Snobs are established Rihanna “stans” and are thus not considered objective critics….still, this ad is amazing and spellbinding and magical and we defy you to conclude otherwise. Phew–this women has not only some good people, but some good money around her! Via.
