Based in Belgium, the duo behind Filles à Papa (translation: daddy’s girls) were inspired by their love of fashion and the energy of New York City, combined with the bling of Vegas, the laid back street style of Los Angeles and the seductive nights of Ibiza. With not too much bells and whistles we find something very cool about this new line. View their Spring/Summer 2011 collection lookbook on the next page.

The brain child of Indonesian super model Fahrani Empel ( Fa Empel), Pawaka is a label whose statement reflects deliberate fun, fearlessness, individuality, with a lot of sexy. The collection, only in its first season establishes Pawaka as a full on lifestyle brand as it includes neon lingerie (luv!), apparel, swimwear, bags, shoes and even sunglasses. Needless to say we’d need more than one post to feature it all, but on the next page you’ll get a good idea of how fierce Pawaka is! Images courtesy of Pawaka.

Chromat Garments designed by Becca McCharen & Emily Kappes illustrates the duo’s architecture background with a stunning collection titled “Shoji,” inspired by Samurai armors, Shoji screens found in Japanese architecture and the concept of bringing the foundation of a garment to the outside. The colletion is minimal with a hint of bondage and we’re smitten with the transformation of boning, elastic and rope into sexy wearble art. On the next page enjoy a view of the complete Chromat Garments collection.

Fahrd Fosté presented his Spring 2011 collection at Participant gallery this past week. The combination of runway and presentation titled “Modern Psychosis,” started with a film projection illustrating the constant noise of the city, followed by each model being stripped of a word-covered garment to reveal the apparel collection. As usual Fahrd does something special by using industrial objects and incorporating them into garments. One of my faves this season. Take a closer look on the next page.

With flawless set displays at the Griffin, Jonathan Simkhai presented his Spring/Summer 2011 collection yesterday. Styled by Susan Joy with a ’50s “ecolière” twist, the pieces reflect his skill of adapting menswear into women’s wear. We loved the gold snake shorts and of course the leather bustiers as well as the various trompe l’oeil accessories like the belt (above) resembling a shirt tied around the waist. Well edited separates that make a wardrobe go from ordinary to fabulously chic and fun! View more on the next page.

Hi everyone, Lois here, reporting from the Pool trade show in Vegas. Meet Joe Chu, designer for Pet Shops Girl, who, hands down was working the best look I saw all day. For real, I had to hold myself back from ripping her “Chanel” jacket off her body and running top speed for the exit, screaming, “Mine, mine, mine!!!” Later I will feature looks from her line–this was her first time at Magic, her company is based in Taiwan, but for now, check out some more of her outfit on the next page. Almost died from the force of falling in love. I swear.
