In preparation for the making of her video “Murda Bizness,” Iggy Azaelia hooked up with Fleury Rose, a nail artist for Brooklyn’s Tomahawk salon. She asked for nails inspired by Fran Drescher character in The Nanny, in other words, loud and gold. Azaelia’s nails are on the left and Rose’s are on the right in the image above. ChanelNailArt 540x398 Chanel Nail Art Featured On Autumn 2012 Runway

As the image above shows, Chanel’s beauty team featured nail art on the label’s recent haute couture Autumn 2012-2013 runway! Some may wonder why such an event would be a big deal given the prevalence, even saturation of nail art, but it is simply because it’s the very great, iconic Chanel. And the truth is, as popular as nail art is, lots of designers still shy away from it, turn their noses up at it if you will and leave their runway girls’ nails clean and basic. But if the prissy yet somehow still hip Chanel embraces multi-colored nails, well then….a game-changing statement has been made.

DoggyNailArt (2)

Nail polish for dogs is nothing new, growing up our pet poodle, Cheri (RIP), always came home from the groomer with pink nails and a matching pink bow on her top pom-pom–so adorable! Naturally the trend of nail art designs has spread from humans to pups and there are even special design pens made for application on our beloveds’ nails. The images here come from ”dog spa” Warren London, which sells its own Pawdicure nail art pens and encouraged its clients to send in images of doggy nail art. Now I’m waiting for the pooch with nail extensions! Via Jezebel

Friend of HighSnobette, accesorry designer Tanaya Henry rocks dollar bill nails, as shot by photographer Kodi Lane. U.S. currency as used to create nail art comes in and out of popularity, but it’s something of an around-the-way classic that will never entirely go out of style.

Sally Singer x Maki Sakamoto ‘Taxi Cab Seat’ Nail Art

TaxiDriverSeatNails 540x405 Sally Singer x Maki Sakamoto Taxi Cab Seat Nail Art

Nowness is featuring an article whose theme is conceptual nail art as designed by fashion editor Sally Singer in collaboration with Manhattan-based nail artist & friend to HighSnobette Maki Sakamoto  The design above was inspired by taxi cab beaded seat covers. Says Singer:

“I wanted a really textural nail, because for me that’s the most interesting—those strange, matte textures like the wooden beaded coverings on New York taxi driver’s seats. This would look good with Burberry’s spring collection.”

See more looks at Nowness. If you live in NYC and you’re interested in getting in on the genius that is Maki’s nail art skills, she can be reached at cutiemaki@hotmail.com. There is no better in all the land I promise.

CherryBlossomManiByFoki Cherry Blossom Nail Art

Oh so appropriate for the season, a cherry blossom manicure. The trick for such a design is finding an artist capable of pulling it off. Not so easy! Via Fokis, whose nail art has long been one of the tightest in the game.
