More quasi-naked celebs, this time its Hedi Klum and Giselle, flashing their beautifully-toned bodies for GQ Russia. One more of Heidi on next page, plus Gisele covered only by her hands and arms. Via.
Haven’t had a look see yet at Chanel’s couture presentation for Autumn, but all of Karl’s pretty besties were in attendance, getting thoroughly dressed to the nines for the show like they always do. That’s model Astrid Munoz above, see Alexa Chung, Milla Jovovich, Diane Kruger and a few more on the next page.
This is model Britney Harris in attendance at the Bikini Swim Club, apparently some big outdoor pool party held in various locations. Harris was present at the San Diego version, hosted by King magazine this past Saturday, featuring Candy Coated Swimwear. All that being said, the turquoise blue is basically perfect against her skin. The sunglass guy with the beard and cycling cap (!) in the background….not so much!
Photographed by Mark Seliger, normally blonde Lara Stone has her locks (temporarily we presume) changed to brown for her Russian Vogue July cover and editorial, while the trademark eyebrows stay in place.
Vogue Italia editor, Franca Sozzani, sure knows how to stir the pot. First she creates a special section on her website devoted to black beauty, then “curvy” (can’t stand that term–it’s the ultimate in meaningless descriptions), and now she has a cover featuring three models who are stacked, aka thick*. That this creates a stir in 2011 is somewhat amazing and speaks to the stranglehold that anglo-beauty standards still hold over the industry. We’re glad to see signs that the tide is turning, but damn the pace sometimes feels positively glacial!
*Thick as defined by Urbandictionary: a word used to describe a female who may be defined by health charts as “overweight,” but still attracts mad guys because the weight is in the right places (hips, buttocks, and breasts).
Cassie was featured in Vibe magazine’s “Sexy’ issue, which hits stands June 7th. She’s rocking a Diesel swimsuit and Fendi heels and looking banging as always.
The closest to being a male supermodel would have to be the incredibly easy-on-the-eyes, David Gandy. Considered the muse for the Dolce& Gabbana men’s line, he announced this week the launch of a book in his name. In partnership with Dolce & Gabnana the book will document all his work with the label for the past couple of years. Available June 20. Via Vogue UK.
A beautiful portrait of Haitian-born Jany Tomba, a model with Ford Models for 25 years whose face graced many commercials and magazine covers. Sasha Huber aptly captures the wit and strenght of a woman of color who in her own way paved the way in an industry where diversity and the lack of is still an issue. Enjoy!
How long does this Cannes Film Festival go on for?? Because frankly I’m easily bored and have just about had it with the parade of expensive long dresses, but now that I started I feel obliged to finish. One thing I’ve learned, a lot of super models attend this event. Lots! It’s like a Karl Lagerfeld show–so perhaps this is a French theme whereby beauty is not just viewed as fleeting and shallow, it’s a necessity of life.
Above model Karolina Kurkova who exhibits why she makes the big bucks. After the flip, a Carine Roitfeld spotting (she’s really into lace this year!), plus Kursten Dunst, Naomi with her badboy Russian boyfriend, Laetitia Casta, Milla Jovovich and a bunch more.
