When I read that Christopher Kane criticized blogs ,  as being too negative , I of course agreed( it can be a blood bath out there) but I also thought he needed  to HighSnobette ! Cause in these parts we strive  not to be negative and bash just for the sake of bashing.We  have the freedom to say what we wan, but have always chosen to question, admire , and challenge the fashion presented to us, with the intent of doing better and sharing opinions respectfully . This recent picture of Taylor Momsen on the gossip girl set shows a different direction in her character’s style that is if anything, very well put together while still staying true to  being a little junior. Just spotted at SL , Yohji Yamamoto’s Coming Soon Spring/Summer 2010 collection titled” Le Chef Chic”. Directed by Max Vadukul. Sticking with the idea of presenting the collection through dance, which does a good job of illustrating the comfort level of the apparel.  The sun in the film  is a beautiful touch however I would have loved to see more detail shots of the apparel.

I was tickled to see that news of Obama’s visit to China had inspired the folks there in many of the same ways his storybook rise captured the hearts of many Americans. The image here shows some of the t-shirts and other memorabilia that local shopkeepers started selling in advance of his arrival. But much like a NYPD clamp down on Chinatown shops selling fake Prada bags, the Chinese government fanned out and put an end to the sale of  t-shirts and other items holding up Barry as a modern-day version of Mao. Supposedly they were concerned Obama would be insulted by the comparison to the world’s most famous communist, but who knows. I don’t know nearly enough about Chinese politics/history to guess some of the hidden reasons. Meanwhile, now that the tees have been banned, there collectable status has just been raised four-fold (and yep, you can already find them on Ebay).

Whether it was the outfit you wore on your first date with your cutie or the outfit your wore when you got a gig. There are these special pieces of apparel that hold sentimantal value. The October ‘09  issue of  Elle Mag  featured an assortment of fun fashion related stories exploring different women’s relationships with a certain piece of clothing. In comparison to this fasco, I highly enjoyed it. As the publishing world  is striving to compete with digital media they have seldomely used the gems of the “ short  fashion story” that we can all agree are pretty cool to read on paper. One of those stories was Samantha Bee’s Gym Clothes that had me  laughing so hard I hard to share:

“One outfit perfectly encapsulated middle school for me. All the other children wore athletic garments, such as T-shirts and shorts, to gym class—we didn’t have a standard uniform, and we could wear what we wanted”…Complete story on the next page.

There are many reasons why people love Garance Doré, but for me it’s simple. She gets fashion in more than one aspect , with a sense of poetry that is irresistible. To be perfectly honest ,I do not know a whole lot about Teyena Taylor or her music , but  , I have always admired her voluminous hair and love of kicks.
