The incredibly sumptuous Lara Stone, the model of the moment, was interviewed by Marc Jacobs for the March issue of Interview magazine. MJ is not only an amazing designer, but he also asks good questions! What can’t this man do?? Lara was photographed by Marcus Piggot for Interview, but the source for this image is Blackeett.
The somewhat enigmatic Kirsten Dunst is featured on the cover of V Magazine, issue No. 64. She is photographed by Mario Testino, who does an excellent job capturing her cool allure, which has made her so appealing to U.S. directors seeking a little more heft than just another blonde. In the article, KD chats about her friendship with the women behind Rodarte, as well as Takashi Murakami.

As a fashion observer one my biggest peeves is often the lack of globality in fashion. The fact that editors tend to only focus on what is immediately around them and that the public also seems to lack this curiousity. Thankfully the snobettes have an eye for the world at large. Check out the crowds who attended the Burberry3D viewing in Paris, France, New York , Japan and the winners of fabulosity: Dubai. They make everyone look so shabby! Amber Rose is featured in this month’s issue of Gotham magazine, in a feature entitled “Bright Young Things.” The theme up-and-coming New Yorkers, modeling the best of spring fashion. In the image featured above (which also includes Olympians Tim Morehouse and Jason Rogers), she’s wearing a Moschino dress and an amazing pair of Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
It’s been interesting to watch Amber’s career develop. Kanye obviously has been a major springboard so one has to wonder what will happen should he disappear from the scene. It’s been my observation that women have greater staying power when they are the ones in charge of their career moves. Yes, many of the most notable divas in history were ushered in by male mentors, but it seems the great ones at some point or another had a moment where they fought for and won creative control. Will Amber eventually do the same? Hope so.
How insane are these Jil Sander woodland wedges? Good crazy of course, though I do believe you might need a step ladder to climb into them! They were featured in New York Time’s T Magazine, whose theme is spring fashion for women. You can view the entire issue on line, including the many ads, which are like a who’s who in label heavy hitters.
My partner is kind of vexed by this V Magazine photo shoot because she says it drains all the edge out of the duo, Salt ‘n’ Pepa, who insipred it. I agree, but then again that’s what fashion (and film and literature, etc) always do. About five to ten years after the fact, they land on a movement that was raw and a little scary/alienating to the masses and redo it in a way that’s safer and more pallatable. And depending on where you’re coming from, the modernized version seems anything from annoying to amazing. I personally feel these two groundbreaking females have already been reinterpreted to death, but I’m U.S. based. There still might be some fascination for this European-based mag. The photographer for this shoot is Josh Olins and it was styled by Clare Richardson.
As we featured the images of the show recently, here is a look at Koi Suwannagate Spring/Summer 2010 presentation beacause there is nothing like seeing the clothes in action. Enjoy!
In the upcoming March issue of V magazine, No. 64, plus-sized model Crystal Renn is making her second editorial apperance in the magazine (first time was in issue No. 63 in the mag’s first-ever size-related issue). In the image shown here, she appears as a Spanish flamenco dancer, alongside the 15-year-old winner of the V A Model Search, Emma Dumont, and VMAN Ford Model Search winner Rico Nieves, shot by Richard Burbridge and styled by Robbie Spencer. The photos are gorgeous, but this whole “plus-sized” thing I just do not get.
The fashion film is becoming more and more prevalent in the high end circuit . YSL via the Manifesto illustrates the use of this marketing tool with Natalia Vodianova for Spring/Summer 2010.Enjoy!
From Love magazine, a 60-second, high-def fashion film entitled “The Love Thing,” It’s shot by tech-loving director James Lima and styled by Love magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Katie Grand. Models include Alessandra Ambrosio, Dree Hemingway, Lindsey Wixson, Kasia Struss, Pixie Geldof, Jeneil Williams, Rasa Zukauskaite, and Agyness Deyn.
