Enjoy a look at the latest b.Store women’s collection film directed by Ivana Bobic and Rain Lin. Titled “Leaving Dreamland,” the film takes a nostalgic look at Los Angeles with crisp apparel shots that illustrate how fashion film can be a beautiful medium for capturing the mood of a collection. Enjoy!
Parisian-brand [UPDATE: A reader informs that it is an Italian brand not French. Thank you, Sasha for the correction and for reading us!] Sisley has released its ad shots for Fall 2010, which was shot by Terry Richardson. The female model is Ashley Smith and the fella is Tyler Riggs. Say what you will about Richardson, but the soft-porn aesthetic he is known for has pretty much taken over fashion photography. If you’re a true Chanelphile your heart might stop at the sight of the plethora of Chanel shopping bags in this film, which firmly tap into the aspirational appeal of the brand. Via Fashioncopious.
I found these hysterical images over at FashionIndie, who pulled them from Le Petite Echo Malada, a newspaper that mock’s fashion bloggers. It’s not the first fashion blogger hate crime committed as of late. There’s been a slew, probably in part because they are an incredibly easy target. I think it’s sort of generational, too. I see the fashion bloggers as part of the “Facebook Generation,” in that online images of themselves are part of their DNA and one of the ways they communicate. Personally it’s very hard for me to get, thus my finding the above incredibly funny (omg, the birds on the tights!!). And then, too, while some of the fashion bloggers are amaaaazing, let’s face it, quite a few others deserve the jabs they’re getting.
Maya is profiled in a seven-page article for GQ magazine’s July issue. The interview took place after her disastrous profile in the NY Times so you know she was very much on her guard. And while it’s much more sympathetic (highlighting her dysfunctional upbringing), her contradictory views (aka, her tendency to tell tall tales) remain a theme. So good, now that we all know that she aint perfect we can hopefully move on. On another note, the story chats about her upcoming record release, but that ship started leaking all over the internet at least a week ago.
V Magazine’s July issue is the “Sexy Body Issue,” which features Adriana Lima on the cover. Alternate covers will feature Natasha Poly, Eniko Mihalik, Lily Donaldson, and Isabeli Fontana, all photographed by Mario Sorrenti, according to Fashionising. The video featured here, set to the Beastie Boys classic “Girls,” includes some of the images from the issue’s editorial.
In the tradition of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, UK-based Romance Was Born presents their fall 2010 collection in a fashion extravaganza mixed with revenge and of course blood. This one we could not ignore. Check out the jumpsuit; it’s a wow!
Vogue’s July issue features coverage of the The Costume Institute’s Ball, of which Oprah is co-chair. The article opens with a two-page spread of Oprah and Gaga, featured here, as photographed by Mario Testino. Sadly, this scan is doing eye-popping image no justice. And not for nothing but Oprah’s makeup (by Derrick Rutledge) and boobs (from good eating?) are amaaaaazing! She’s wearing Oscar de la Renta and Lady Gaga is wearing Prada. Via Gagalicious.
Lady Gaga is on the cover of Rolling Stone’s July double issue magazine. According to her stylist, Nicola Formichetti, Gaga is wearing a custom bra by David Samuel Menkes and her shoes (image next page) are by Noritaka Tatehana. Judging from excerpts from this interview and other recent ones, Gaga is very much obsessed with how her fans perceive her these days, and according to the article, “‘If I were to ever, God forbid, get hurt onstage and my fans were screaming outside of the hospital, waiting for me to come out, I’d come out as Gaga,’ she says, adding that she models her celebrity on Michael Jackson.” What’s interesting is her focus on how she presents as a celebrity–very Warholesque, but not so much Michael, who, one could argue was as much a victim of his own celebrity as a beneficiary.
