For Summer 2009 Nars Cosmetics introduces a vivid island palette that blends the blue of the ocean, in  ‘Tropic‘ teal blue eyeshadow, and  golden sunny shades  in ‘Scorching Sun’ duo eye shadow. Lip colors are neutral and earthy  with hints of gold and coral ’Outsider‘ , bronze ‘Falaba‘, and a sandy pink gloss ‘  Belize‘. Shown above.

Recently I was privileged enough to enjoy a complementary O.P.I. manicure. I chose one of their new spring shades, Done Out in Deco, or what I refer to as Easter egg purple. It’s the perfect pastel, just in time for spring, and looks nothing less than adorable on. Get your nails did y’all.

Six Scents is an amazing project which annually releases six limited edition perfumes created by artists, designers, and perfumers to help raise money for a deserving charity. 2009 brings us series 1 which will benefit  Designers Against AIDS (DAA) and the opening of the International AIDS Awareness Education Center in Belgium. Each fragrance will be created from a collaboration between a fashion designer and perfumer. This will include the likes of  Jeremy Scott, COSMIC WONDER Light Source, and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, just to name a few.

Having dabbled in the world  of make up artistry, I have found that regardless of  skin tone there is a universal fear among women of red lipstick. Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall’09  make-up look  provides a great example of a red lip done well. The trick is to  find a flattering red, keep the face neutral , while still emphasizing the eyes and cheekbones.

Here’s a look at the new colors from the collaboration betweenUslu Airlines and Bernard Wilhelm,  all based and named after the ski world cup theme of  Willhelm’s last mens’ collection: Innsbruck,  Grenoble and St. Moritz. Respectively olive for INN,  blue for GNB and orange for SMV.

To remediate to  the sense of loss girls can feel in loosing  their favorite lipgloss,  Angie Parlionas, a new york native created YoYo lip gloss in 2003.  A  lip gloss attached to a yoyo string that never leaves the hip or bag where it’s attached.

The retractable glosses come in 5 different colors/flavors  illustrated by 5 gals who have their own myspace pages:  A baseball player,  a stylish cool gal, a break dancer, cheerleader and my fave,  a deejay.

As an adult tough, it’s still possible to be peeved  about loosing your favorite designer lipstick or gloss at a club or a concert , you might wanna snatch a couple of these  next time you hit the drugstore or make your little sister always has a stash you can ” borrow” from.

Rescue Beauty Lounge is a chain of nail salons known for making cleanliness, as well as fun, a top priority. They have since expanded to a line a beauty products including, well obviously, nail polish. Known for their loud and fashion forward colors, I am always excited to see what they will dig up next. This Spring they have added three new glittery shades, all with a hint of purple, “this season’s it color”.  “Frugalist” is gunmetal grey and silver mixed with purple glitter,my favorite of the three. The gold shade is “Look Rich, Be Cheap” and “Locavore” is a bold mix green, gold, blue, and purple. Now available for pre-order.

MAC cosmetics has announced their Spring store arrivals and their Sugarsweet collection is delicious. Based entirely on bake shop confections, the color palette consists of mint green, cotton candy blue, peach, and a variety of shades of pink. I highly recommend trying out some of the new lipstick shades with names like Bubbles, Sweet Thing, and Lollipop Loving it’ll be hard to resist licking your lips. Set to drop March 19th.

Mac and Hello Kitty have teamed up and created two new lines for spring. The Hello Kitty Colour collection will feature numerous new shades of lipsticks, false lashes, eye shadows, glitter eyeliner, and lots of other goodies.  The second line, Hello Kitty Kouture will feature Swarovski crystal encrusted reusable packaging. The overall look retains classic Hello Kitty qualities mimicking her sometimes sweet and often mischievous personality. So expect lots of bubble gum pinks that have been kicked up a notch with jet black and super bright turquoise, a look that feels at home both at your niece’s birthday party and stumbling out of a club at four A.M.

So, I have had a serious label crush on John Varvatos, the label, for a while. The clothes are dark, refined, sometimes edgy but never minimalistic cold or stoic .  A little rock n’ roll, five o’clock shadow cool without trying.
