The 2013 edition of the Maybelline calender features all of the cosmetic brand’s spokesmodels, including Erin Wasson, Julia Stegner, Freja Beha Erichsen, Charlotte Free, Shu Pei Qin, Emily DiDonato, Kemp Muhl, and Jessica White. The models were shot by Kenneth Willardt at some iconic New York spots that are just as strong in color as the make-up and body paintings of the girls. Like the Pirelli calendar this month-to-month agenda is limited and not available for purchase.

For its 29-item Holiday 2012 collection, NARS cosmetics took inspiration from pop artist Andy Warhol and was not only informed by the color palette of Warhol’s paintings, but also his films and the people who filled his famous Factory art space. The influence is reflected in the above video, which makes clear reference to his 8mm films.

I had the opportunity to sample Azealia Banks “Young Rapunzel” lipstick for MAC cosmetics. Dense in pigment, the deep plum lipstick is the perfect combination of glossy and matte. Definitely chic, the color creates a strong lip statement. And because the color is so rich, there is no need to apply multiple layers of it for the color to show itself, which is often the case for darker skin tones. The color itself made me think of Grace Jones, which is of course too cool for words. Get it here.

We announced the collaboration between MAC cosmetics and fashion editor extraodinaire, Carine Roitfeld back in April. Today we’re pleased to give you a closer look at the cosmetics line set to release in October 2012. The subtle palette comprises of a complete assortment of cosmetics to achieve Roitfeld’s signature smoky eye and makeup look, including kohl powder eye pencil, a brunette eyebrow pencil, a full face kit with  four  eye shadows and blush creme blend, fluidine, mascara and an eyelash kit, tropical mist lipstick, base maquillake, face and body foundations, concealer mineralize correrctor, nail polish, and brushes. Relating to the name of the new Dior cosmetic line it is no coinisidence that Mrs. Portman appears ‘Nude’ for the Dior Beauty ads. For Natalie it is the first time to be pictured naked. And as her beauty is not enough, the nudity comes with a cause. Among eight new shades, the proceeds from the special hue, Grège #169, goes to Portman’s charity of choice, the Free the Children Association. The photos were taken by Mario Sorrenti.

In June Karl Lagerfeld announced his collaboration with Japanese cosmetic brand Shu Uemera, which he’s a big fan of. While he is working on the limited edition makeup line, the brand just released a video teaser to show what’s to come. The Mon Shu Girl Birth Story features an animated Karl Lagerfeld sketching of the little Mon Shu girl. Enjoy!
