The stunning Gwen Stefani graces the cover of U.S. Vogue for its first issue of the new year. Definitely a great choice of cover styling and photography. The whole festive look with a menswear twist is of course a fave. Available at a newsstand near you soon.
Jessica Biel was shot by Thomas Whiteside for U.S. Elle’s January 2013 issue in the beautiful setting of some of Paris’ most iconic landmarks. Biel wears the spring collections of top designers including Isabel Marant, Jean Paul Gaultier, Azzedine Alaïa, Christian Louboutin and others, some of whom are featured alongside the actress. The editorial does not cover a specific theme, rather its focus is the look and feel of each brand as a point of reference for each image.
Karlie Kloss stars in the cover story of M Le Monde magazine’s cover story for December. The spread shows the top model and her androgynous side in a mix of black and white and neo colored shots wearing amazing pieces by Lanvin, Balenciaga and Mugler styled by Aleksandra Woroniecka. Photographed by Daniel Sannwald the editorial is a beautiful story of contrasts; soft and sharp, warm and cold, boyish and femine. Love it!
Singer MIA lands the cover of Jalouse magazine for December/January 2012, along with an editorial in which she is shot by Roman Gravras in high-low Spring 2013 looks from Paco Rabanne, Armani, Kenzo , Dior, Azzedine Alaïa, Sonia Rykiel, plus Carhartt, Vans and American Apparel. Via Shedonism.
We shared theVogue UK cover for January starring Kate Upton last week. Now we learn that Miss Upton also is the star in a fashion film for the German edition of the fashion magazine as directed by Bruce Weber and showing the blond and blue-eyed model in the typical American style of the ’50s.
Nice work, but in my opinion Vogue is attempting to position her as the new Marilyn Monroe, which makes sense in a way, but do we really need yet another copy?
W magazine’s December issue features Natalia Vodianova, shot by Mert & Marcus for a spread titled “Sleep No More,” which shows the model dreamlike in a flooded apartment. Totally in love with the colors, I keep wondering if the water is real or if it’s photo-shopped. Any pros out there?
Kate Upton is about to become a real Vogue darling. After her cover for the November Issue of Vogue Italia she now appears on the front page of the Vogue UK January issue.
Star photographer Cass Bird shot supermodel Daria Werbowy for the third issue of Fat magazine. Besides the cover, the magazine features a vibrant editorial showing the model in a series of movements displayed in one picture. Take a look yourself on the next page.
There are few images that show the beautiful Taylor Swift wearing trousers. Most of the time she appears in dresses, miming the nice girl from next door. The singer who herself says as a rule she never wears trousers illustrates in the January Issue of Harper’s Bazaar that there is nothing unfeminine about it, looking just as gorgeous wearing pants as a dress.
After the huge success of The September Issue, HBO will release a Condé Nast publication about the life of fashion editors on December 6. In contrast to The September Issue the documentary titled: ‘In Vogue: The Editor’s Eye’ will also focus on other important fashion magazines and its editor-in-chief’s. The documentary will release in the same year in which the US Vogue magazine celebrates it’s 120th anniversary and allows the Joe Public to look behind the curtains of the fashion world to understand how hard this business really is. For fashion victims the publication will be another roller coaster ride through the life of our favorite designers, photographers and models.
The documentary will go behind the scenes at the publication, showcasing some of the magazines most noted editorials and how they were brought to life, of course always highlighting the editors without whose work fashion magazines wouldn’t have become what they are today.
