Summer weight boots will be a big item this summer, and given Palladium’s heritage canvas materials story, we expect it to be at the forefront of this trend. The summer style the brand is featuring is called “Lite,” because, simply put, it’s the lightest boot the company has made in its 60-year history. Christian Louboutin has once again partnered with photographer Khoung Nguyen on a Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook titled “Louboutin Spring Summer Tour,” which perfectly captures the whimsy and fantasy upon which so much of the Loubie appeal is built. Via Trendland. More on the next page.

BAPE shows us its Spring 2011 lookbook for the “ladies,” as it slowly but surely brings its women’s game back up to speed. Looks range from tomboyish to flirty, with the strength of the line being the sportier styles that better speak to the brand’s street heritage. More on the next page.

The fact that brands place their products on celebs is a well known practice, but it’s a little less known that they actively seek out folks recognized as “influencers,” people who are known for planting the seeds for new trends the masses eventually follow. Louis Vuitton makes the practice a public one by having a combination of celebs and influencers model its necklaces, bracelets, earrings and of course scarves for its Spring 2011 accessories lookbook. First re-discovered by Opening Ceremony thanks to its uber-authentic heritage credentials (140 years old AND a connection with Native Americans), Pendleton is having a moment and then some. So good for it for capitalizing via a first-time comtemporary collection, titled “The Portland Collection.” According to WWD:

The graphic Harding pattern shown on sturdy wool coats and raglan-sleeved jackets is named after a scarf the Cayuse and Umatilla tribes presented former first lady Florence Harding in 1923, while the earthy plaids on simple button-downs and tops got their origins in the same checked shirts the Beach Boys wore on the cover of their first album, “Surfin’ Safari,” in 1962.
