Tom Ford Spring 2011 First Looks!

TomFordVogue1 Tom Ford Spring 2011 First Looks!

After dissing the instantaneous nature of internet fashion non-stop, we get the first glimpses of Tom Ford’s much-buzzed about Spring 2011 women’s collection, you guessed it, on Vogue’s website. The funnier still part is that the article spends its first two paragraphs reitering that theme and then revisits it again in a third paragraph! But oh well, Ford is doing his best to create exclusivity and perhaps stumbling a bit along the way (or rather Vogue is not realizing it too has a web presence!). As for the clothes, they’re quite glamorous and true to Ford’s love affair with the ’70s, but it’s tough to get a real feel for the collection from just these shots.

Here by the way is a list of the models who appeared in his show: Lauren Hutton, Liya Kebede, Rinko Kikuchi, Rachel Feinstein, Lisa Eisner, Beyoncé Knowles, Marisa Berenson, Stella Tennant, Amber Valletta, Natalia Vodianova,Karen Elson, Lakshmi Menon, Karlie Kloss, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Rita Wilson and Julianne Moore.  Via Fashionista. T By Alexander Wang Spring 2011 Lookbook

AWTSpring5 368x540 T By Alexander Wang Spring 2011 Lookbook

Through his lower-priced T line, Alex Wang hooks up his girls with the looks that made him famous. All the basics are here with some slight variations on the themes. However, given how many brands have followed him down this path, it could have benefited Wang to be a little less safe, or rather create a few items that clearly can be identified as being his and his alone. This is why in part women are choosing shoes and bags as their signature pieces. Short of a logo, lots of brands’ apparel offerings can barely be distinguished from the lower-priced wannabees. Madewell Spring/Summer 2011

 Madewell Spring/Summer 2011

Madewell is a line that looks obvious but isn’t as available at retail as much as one might guess given how creative-types, especially fashion editors, tend to like this look: on-trend silhouettes (in this case trousers and woven tops), slim-fitting but not tight and a little earthy. Basically it’s the look pushed by Lucky magazine (at least prior to the firing of Kim France), which is good because there is need for it in the marketplace. Still, one can’t help but dream it could be just a touch edgier. More images on the next page. Via WWD.

JCHol3 540x428 J.Crew Collection Holiday 2010 Lookbook

J.Crew Collection looks pretty boss and there are a couple of offerings like the leather pants on this page that will have your eyes lingering. Still, even though it’s the higher-priced Collection line, it strikes me as pricey given the name. I mean, the pants in the image above are 1,400 beans! Via Popbee.

Based in Belgium, the duo  behind Filles à Papa  (translation: daddy’s girls) were  inspired by their love of fashion and the energy of New York City, combined with the bling  of Vegas, the laid back street style of Los Angeles and the seductive nights of Ibiza. The Lake & Stars Spring 2011 Lookbook

TLS1 The Lake & Stars Spring 2011 Lookbook

Refinery29 has the latest lookbook for The Lake & Stars Spring 2011 offerings, which is quite a departure from the eye-popping ’70s porn themes of the last lookbook. Inspired by religous cults, the latest one isn’t as fun and the budget seems lower, but oh well, better that the brand keeps it moving than dwell on the past. On this page and after the flip are straight shots of the product, whose theme remains the same–retro-naughty garments, which in many cases work as well as outerwear as lingerie, thanks to modern fabrics and details. The lookbooks may change, but the garments remain perfect for all the high IQ sex queeens who love to flaunt their stuff.
