When was the last time you needed shampoo and found yourself , in a place  you can describe as intimate,  feminine ,  authentic and inspiring.  This was my experience when I entered the “ Georgia”  boutique  on the Bowery a few weeks ago. The tall ceiling  loft space with gritty walls and bronze accents won me over  as soon as I walked in and  was greeted by  owners Jodie Patterson and Kiara Ellozy’s inspiration wall (above) presenting all the women  who constantly provided the inspiration for the Georgia boutique , beauty “boudoir” concept. 

With an extensive selection of hard to find brands like Davines (which I adore!), Côte Bastide & Mixed Chicks to name a few, accompanied by an intimate hair salon,  a very unique selection of lingerie and accessories as well as their  signature G & Company  body products  Georgia , named after Jodie’s daughter, is not just a boutique or a salon ,  but an experience…

Totally solving the dilemma of layering those low armholes tanks that are everywhere lately , the cut out bra by Lonely Hearts .Already sold out at bona drag  geez…

If there ever was a lingerie line that deserved the term ‘Fine Lingerie” it would be Carine Gilson’s Lingerie Couture. The ‘Venise’ Collection from her summer 2010 collection  , made mostly of lace and silk is simply exquisite. Much ado was made about Victoria’s Secret fashion show at the end of last week. It hadn’t been done for a few seasons and the idea is that its reemergence is some sign of optimism. The show was okay. You can can tell the brand is trying to be more Viki, aka, playful and modern, and less Victoria. I’m not NOT a fan (bought some adorable panties at a VS store a couple weeks back), but I thought the show was just okay. Still, there was some great people watching as always at the show. I picked Heidi for the front page shot because I thought she look amazing (check out her finger accessories!), though when I saw she was quoted at the show as still needing to lose 20 pounds I couldn’t help but feel dismayed and a little disappointed. Oh Heidi. Still think she’s a peach.

Mayaan Zilberman and Nikki Dekker’s The Lake & Stars continues to refine their aesthetic while  raising the bar on lingerie design. The Lake & Stars Autumn/Winter 2009 lookbook  showcases once  more their ability to create lingerie that is modern and  feminine and to my joy, devoid of frills. My first memory of Only Hearts  by Helena Stuart was a brown spaghetti trap tank top circa late 90’s   that without exaggeration can be called ” the best tank top ever made”.  The straps were thin, adjustable and the fabric was stretchy cotton not too clingy or sheer and, sit easily mid hip with no constant tugging. I created ways  to wear it and layer it.  It was the kind of tank that you could really dress up or dress down. Needless to say  I was excited to hear that , Only Hearts, will launch its first-ever vintage pop up shop during the holidays. Starting  November 1st, OH: PoP  shop will offer in Nolita (230 Mott St. B’twn Prince & Spring ) an entire outpost dedicated to the labels history.Unworn, limited-edition vintage lingerie and ready-to-wear from the Only Hearts design archives of the late 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s available to the public for the first time ever! Last night we scoured the streets of Soho during fashion ’s night out, to see how the shopping   festivity was was going to take place. The always buzzing neighborhood of Soho was filled with pedestrians going from store to store enjoying various events, food , drinks  and music. Levis & Costume National were jamming!

As the shopping night seemed to have been successful for big brands and retailers who aggressively advertised to  pull crowds into their stores. Independent designers and  boutiques we visited experienced a slight increase in traffic but  pretty much no sales. One handsome boutique owner even compared  the night  to ‘halloween for fashion” an interesting analogy when I for one was looking forward to  see a plethora of decked out individuals perusing the street but I was left underwhelmed. Nonetheless  duo above , too fabulous for words, allowed me to have my first  Garance/Tommy Ton  moment . Andrés Sardá titled her Autumn/Winter 2009 lingerie collection ‘The Spell of the Femme Fatale’ where she explores the different representations of erotic icons . The collection  truly separates the women from the girls  with looks that are sexy with capital S.
