We always complain about the dearth of women’s streetwear brands so it always makes us pleased as punch to see new labels emerge. OldBabyDoll is the latest entry and it’s looking like a good one. According to creative director Sabrina Thornton, OBD, each season’s collection includes iconic female images.

On why Marilyn (in the tee on the left), Sabrina comments: "We believe she is one of the most sexiest, free, beautiful women that has ever walked this earth. She went against the grain with no boundaries. She was a sex symbol when it was not cool. She was such a trailblazer. Of course there is Pam Grier, Harriet Tubman, Janice Joplin, Dorothy, Billie and the list goes on. But it can be so easy to forget who or what has laid this foundation down for women today. I feel like she is what Old BabyDoll reps. She sexy but street enough to get what the hell she wants in life."

The Rodarte collection as shown at NY Fashion week had my heart soaring last week and I did a post featuring some backstage photography, which can be found here. I meant to post some images from the show but got a little busy. Yes, I’m late, but the show is deserving.

^^The only issue being that there are few that have the presence of personality to pull off wearing this.

If you don’t adore legendary lensman for the NY Times Bill Cunningham it’s probably only ’cause you don’t know who he is. He’s been doing his "On the Street" photography column for the paper forever, which is, hands down, the best part of the Time’s fashion coverage. This past week he did his totally on-point column on the piping-hot fashion trend of "spidery" high heels combined with short dresses. He also talks about the demise of handbags as the centerpiece of the outfit.  It’s a must-see.

Smartly he and his design team did not try to do couture but presented a line reflective of his heritage .A little country mixed with a little street and a pinch or Rock !
