WWD released some sketches of the costumes Thierry Mugler is working on for Beyonce’s upcoming world concert. No doubt it will be a very polished and tight set of looks. That being said, I for one will half miss Beyonce’s Mom’s doing the fashion direction. Granted she’s often over the top and too informed by her Southern-Belle-trashy-prom-queen sensibilities, but at the very least she’s entertertaining and more likely to inspire comment than anything an experienced, top designer creates. I mean, Mugler is talking about this collection being about the “duality between being a woman and a warrior,” and I’m like, okay really? And that theme aint worn out like an old man’s suit??

Nike uses “Paule Marrot’s ‘Aurore’ to inspire the Butterflies and Feathers prints on the new ‘Skinny’ Dunks, and the ‘Les Cerises’ print draped two colorways in all-over prints of Cherries on the shoes for Summer 09. ‘Les Cerises’ is adapted from the original Paule Marrot design – Bigareaux – and is inspired by the cherries sitting in front of her when she met her husband-to-be.” Awww..

Doo.Ri Autumn/winter '09 Runway via Style.com

Featured in Doo.Ri’s Autumn/Winter 2009 , were the accessories collection created in collboration with  high -end accessory label  Be&D. Contrasting textures of silky pony hair with sharp zipper details  , knits and chains.  Making them  truly treasures to behold, as they embody the perfect mix of edginess ,  sophistication,  and totally glam rock.

Here’s a look at the very fun collaboration of Plenty by Tracy Reese  and The ever so sleek basic Keds. The shoes totally reflect Plenty’s colorful multi-ethnic vibe with a sporty low  silouettees like the champion above(my fave!) and wedges.

Six Scents is an amazing project which annually releases six limited edition perfumes created by artists, designers, and perfumers to help raise money for a deserving charity. 2009 brings us series 1 which will benefit  Designers Against AIDS (DAA) and the opening of the International AIDS Awareness Education Center in Belgium. Each fragrance will be created from a collaboration between a fashion designer and perfumer. This will include the likes of  Jeremy Scott, COSMIC WONDER Light Source, and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, just to name a few.

Jeffery NYC and Pro Keds have come together to bring us a small collection. Their classic Champion Oxford will come in an array of sherbet colors, perfect for summer. Lime green, lemon yellow, a bright citrus orange and a deep navy blue all in ultra suede will be available April 1 at Jeffery NYC exclusively.

To celebrate their 20th anniversary DKNY teams up with Levis on collection of limited edition  denim styles. A wide leg,  Skinny silhouettes and the ever so popular boyfriend cut.  The rationale behind this collaboration puzzles me when DKNY has a   DKNY Jeans  label. Is this  a way to make their denim line more “credible” in the  world of Levis aficionados and denim purists ? Or did a consumer study show that DKNY denim wearers also wear Levis?  At  $225 a pop I’m not sold on this concept. Are you?

Here’s a quick look at the Fall 09 collection by Jeremy Scott for Adidas, part of the Originals by Originals series. Hopefully the Mickey Mouse Hi-tops from Scott’s  fall 09 will be included , as this collection seems to have a more colorful pop-culture feel than the previous one.

Italian  furniture design house Kartell partnered with the Normaluisa fashion label to create a series of rubber ballerina flats called” Glue Cinderella”. Designed  with injection molding technology, I  like the ventilation holes on the side that  help moisture to evaporate . Looks like jellies are here to stay, as more brands seem to venture in this category. Theshoes will be available at Kartell flagship  locations and select shops world wide.
