I would be lying if I said I never had interest in the oh so saturated Murakami for LV collection. Nonetheless, the plethora of copies we saw especially in NYC , the overall trendiness and overexposure , had us shaking our heads like nah, can’t go there. We were just sent the images of The Monogram Multicolore Murakami wallets and I have to say in all honesty that hidden in the privacy of my handbag this little number might actually get me to wanna go there. Check out another color on the next page.

The 50th anniversary of Barbie generated lots of buzz, here’s a look the Barbie World launch at DSM last week:
“Henry Holland was responsible for curating the space that begins with a gigantic sculpture of Barbie applying lipstick by Martin Smeaton from the Andy Hillman Studio, which plays off against the comparatively diminutive sized Barbie and Ken dolls designed by Roksanda Ilincic, Danielle Scutt and Gareth Pugh. All three dolls were dressed in their respective designer’s signature looks including a purple satin big shouldered jacket by Ilincic, dark denim outfit by Scutt and black PVC jacket by Pugh. All dolls will be available in limited runs of 50…” Read the entire feature via Dazed.

Usually flowers and bright colors on sneakers would be very typical in my mind, and just overly girly . But, the floral version of the “Straptastik” which I am a proud owner just has the right combination of detail. embroidery on canvas, printed half sole and a bright metallic purple toe-box making them very rockable, for me tough with all black gear. We had a chance to take a sneak peek at the Kidrobot fall ‘09 collection featuring artist collaborations and jewelery in collaboration with Tarina Tarnntino. The men’s collection sees the introduction of wovens and ties and the women’s collection stays true the the playful aesthetic of the Kidrobot brand. A closer look at my favorite pieces on the next page.

“Maharam’s unique interpretation of the AF1 introduces a silhouette constructed of Layers, a textile created by the Maharam Design Studio in collaboration with Jongerius. Layers, produced in 100% wool felt, uses sophisticated embroidery equipment played against artisanal hand-cutting to create patterning, resulting in an “industrial craft” hybrid. This already complex textile was further engineered to meet the specific needs of the AF1. The result represents a multi-disciplinary undertaking, bridging disparate aspects of industrial design including sports technology, textile design and the conceptual avant-garde. Layers is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.” Via Moss

Our beloved Tommy Ton of Jak&Jil featured the hot shoe of the season, The Louis Vuittion ”Spicy Sandals.” Great images as usual of a pair of sandals that really does add serious spice to really anything. Curious to see how other brands will be “inspired.”
More beauties on the next page courtesy of Jak&Jil. Word of caution , take a deep breath first. For pricing and details go to I love LV.

In collaboration with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, Topshop designers created this cool jersey top modeled by JourdanDunn, available at Topshop UK on April 6,2009. Although pink is the signature color for breast Cancer awareness the target sign in black and white works very well.

Matthew Williamson Fall '09 Runway via Style
Camilla Skovegaard , born in Denmark was brought to Dubai by a french couture house to design for the Gulf’s Sheiks and their wives ( can you imagine, the glamour?) Later on she also designed for the late president H. H. Sheik Zayed Al Nahyan . She launched her collection in 2006 where she designs the shoes and oversees production from drawing board to sample approvals in one of the best factories in north Italy.
Camilla Skovegaard, get my kudos for not only being one of the very few women shoe designers, but also for being able to channel my shoe passions once more in her footwear designs for Matthew Williamson’s Autumn/Winter ‘09 collection. Zebra print stilettos with neon pink soles, need I say more.
A closer look at my fave Camilla Skovegaard’s designs for Spring/Summer 2009 on the next page.
