When I arrived at the Hammerstein Ballroom, where G-Star staged  their spring/summer 2010 fashion show , I had the marvel at the grandiose aspect of the production. This was truly show. With a three lane runway and moving cylinders where the models silouettes would appear before their proceeded  unto the runway.The apparel in true G-Star fashion is edgy and urban with alot or white and  various shades of blue making this Spring/ Summer 2010 collection a lot brighter and somewhat optimistic for this label whose aesthetic tends to be darker and industrial. This  is one footwear  ’inspiration’ that I  have to applaud. When Miucca sent those beauties down the runway for her Prada  A/W 2009 collection, I was in awe. As much as I loved the idea I really wanted to see their practical interpretation. But I never thought  that in these times a contemporary label  like Report would take the risk of creating what is an amazingly edgy piece of footwear with its own orginal design elements under 500 bucks! The great PRPS collaborates with Brix Smart Start’s  London Boutique Start on a collection of two piece limited edition styles – a pair of Japanese denim boyfriend and  and an Italian leather cropped biker jacket – are both adorned with oxidised studs and hearts and will be available in-store and online from early September.The return of  black classic leather for fall means that designers will provide great pieces, that will endure long after the trend fades, this will be a great season for leather .View the presentation here. Call it futuristic or space age, one of the the highlights of Acne’s Spring Summer 2010  collection is the metal knee padded pants  that of course brings nostalgic thoughts of our departed Michael Jackson. For the most part unisex fashion makes  the joy of a tailoring fiend like yours truly, as it tends  to have enough edge and  contruction to appeal  to men and enough style and sexiness  to appeal to women. To celebrate their 10 year anniversary  Nobody Denim launches the ‘Heritage’ collection’ where “Every jean is hand customised slowly, with constant review of the progress, creating truly unique and authentic garments. Including selvedges, made on traditional narrow looms and authentically dyed, unfinished cloths constructed honest to the heritage of jeans.” Every piece stands out as special and true to the essence of denim. In the litte bit of english I knew at the time when, this song came out ,” painted on jeans” was one of the few  lyrics I  now realize I actually got right.Years later inspired by our need to wear tight jeans, Ksubi launches The’ spray on’ jean in Betty Blue.  Bound to turn some heads.You might need to do gymnastics to put them on. Who said fashion was effortless?

A couple of years ago  Levi’s printed a tees titled “we were here first” As simple as the graphic tee was,  it echoed to me  the willingness of this’Icon’ brand to take hold of it’s heritage and stay true to istself. For Autumn/Winter 2009 the women’s collection illustrates this purity of denim’s aesthetics with slight ‘lived-in details’. Because let’s face  it , some of these fast fashion denim styles with extreme tearing and bleaching will not make it through two seasons .
