Last  week Levi’s unveiled their brand new concept store in New York’s Meat Packing District . In a rustic space, the iconic brand exhibited a portion of its heritage with various Levi’s archive items. Current collections, like the brand’s collaboration with Pendleton were also shown. Limited-edition items, including archival 501 re-issues from the hard-to-get Levi’s Vintage Clothing collection will be available for sale, as well as non Levi’s products like field notes notebooks, red toe socks and much more. 

 The store  also houses a denim tailor for on site denim repairs. On the next page a look at the opening festivities which featured an energetic performance by the one and only Vivian Girls.

It’s been tough to gaze upon the men’s offerings from the Levi’s and Pendleton collaboration and not feel a little gender envy. Both companies are pretty awesome and the two together are like hot fudge and vanilla ice cream, basically a fantastic match, each bringing out the best in the other. But it turns out the ladies are not going to be left out of the fun, after all! Refinery offers up a sneak peek of two women’s items, including a cape and a denim jacket with a removeable vest. Is there more to come?? Hope so! More images after the flip.

Continuing its innovation of the denim making process, Levis introduces a waterless collection for Spring 2011, comprising styles made with a process that minimizes the use usually needed in denim production. The styling and mood of the collection reflect an easy spirited Americana, which this time around is more sexy summer on a farm than it is dark glam rock. The evening ended on a stunning musical note with a high energy performance by London’s The Duke Spirit. On the next page a closer look at the collection and our random sightings.

In support of its “Workwear” collaboration with Pendleton, Levi’s has produced a documentary film called “Bares, Broncs and Bulls in the Navajo Nation,” which will appear on VBS.tv on November 15th.  In the meantime, they’ve released some stills of some of the cute cowboys (how can you not love a man who can handle a lasso?) who will be featured in the film, all coincidentally wearing the “Workwear” collection. Denham The Jeanmaker one of our faves, recently opened a new retail store in Shoreditch, London. The four level space houses a store, two showrooms and an office space, gathering elements of the labels devotion to history, craftsmanship and of course style. I find South African designer Jaques Van Der Watt’s Black Coffee  Fall 2010 collection particularly  inspiring,   with its emphasis on volume and layering,  the fact that the coats look really warm, and  mostly that it  illustrates  my fantasy  of hibernating  in a cashmere cocoon until summer comes back. Contrary to the video soundtrack, the  show opened to an upbeat electronic version of the Beach Boys very soft  ” God only Knows,” which set the tone for what seems to be  G-star’s  ongoing desire to brighten what has been a  very dark industrial, edge. The looks start from stark white,  go into khaki and finish with navy. Lots of great blazers for men, dhoti denim silhouettes, as well as a show-stopping parachute dress. On the next page, a few of our favorite looks as well as a close -up of publicist  Michelle Wang’s signature  make-up which  would have been a very cool choice for the runway.
