Levi’s staged a presentation of their Autumn 2011 men’s and women’s collection in a fun setting last night, allowing the ease and the comfort of the be apparel to be expressed. The presentation was complemented by an appearance by performance artist the Bumbys who unapologetically typed their thoughts on the attendees looks (That was fun). The featured denim was dark, mostly slim with sleek stand outs like a short sleeved jumpsuit you will see on the flip. Images via Jacob Breinholt.

There’s going to be a lot of turbulance in the world of denim silhouettes this year. The low-rise skinny that’s held the perch of dominance for so long is being challenged by mid-rise and high-waisted flairs, plus trouser-inspired cuts, featuring pleated fronts and tapered legs. And here we have Joe’s Jeans offering the emerging rocker-type bottom, which is a skinny/flair hybrid for those who want a new look but aren’t ready to say good-bye to their skinnies. Super sexy Megan Fox slinks around in another spot for Emporio Armani, promoting the brand’s denim and lingerie line. Don’t know what it is, but she has one of those faces that is simply a pleasure to behold. Not long ago Fox added some of her baby pics to her Facebook page and you can very much see she was a beauty in the making even then with cherry red lips and bright baby blues framed by a striking brow, all centerpieces to her look to this day. Business was buzzing at G-Star’s booth at Project, where the brand was all about its distressed denim looks, an ongoing  theme for the brand, but was also showing some new silhouettes including jumpsuits and the very trend-friendly poncho. Levi’s Fenom is a collaboration between Levi’s Japan and Fragment Design, the agency headed by musician and designer, Hiroshi Fujiwara. The two entities have created men’s styles before, but this is the first time for women. Note the stud detail on the waist, the side zip and the white label.

If anyone has the credibility to launch a lux denim line, it’s certainly Ralph Lauren. Set to hit retail in July and priced from $300 to $2,000, according to WWD:

Ralph Lauren Collection Denim features a soup-to-nuts offering, from jeans to chic clothes that happen to be in denim. They include superskinny jeans, jodhpur jeggings, a denim tuxedo and a tailored trenchcoat — in dark black, indigo and distressed denim rinses and treatments like hand-coating to give some pieces a leather feel.

Still, denim is a super tricky category and this collection targets a more sophisticated customer, who isn’t exactly known for setting denim trends. Is this a pricier version of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans or something that has the potential to impact the denim market in a wider way a year or so from now?
