London-based design duo Bitching and Junkfood launched just a year ago, and by heck have they come proper yet again. Doing it their way has seen the project grow to include collaborations with big name U.K. retailers such as Urban Outfitters, as well as two in-house labels one of which is Remade. The label is heavily influenced by blog culture and looks scooped off the streets surrounding their East London studio. Their Spring/Summer 2011 draws heavily on 90s rock and death metal trends for inspiration–which us Snobette’s adore! Their Remade Levi’s Bitchy shorts already have a cult following, as seen on the lovely Eliza Doolittle (above via Ohhlalook).

Each pair of the high-waisted shorts, are cut on the body to guarantee a flattering fit (wave goodbye to the camel toe!) and they use only 501 for girls to ensure a consistent fit. This season sees the basic style advanced and made somewhat more playful by introducing suspenders, fringing, feathers and bleaching. Jackets and shirts are adorned with rivets and eyelets and rock tee-shirts are re-cut with mesh panels. Everything is handmade in their Hackney East London studio, with every piecea one off so the coast is clear from the masses.  More goodies on flip! –Danity Blame.

I opened Vogue magazine recently to see this 2 page spread for Dawn Bennett’s Imperial  Dragon jeans featuring a hand painted dragon that reminded  me of Tom Ford’s Spring 1999  embellished denim for Gucci ( Remember anyone?).On the next page a closer look at the details, while they are available here.

Keri Hilson for Instyle magazine is photographed sporting three of Summer 2011’s biggest trends: super-short denim shorts (in this case by Calvin Klein), long-oval nails and bicycles. On the second page, she hits a fourth, lace-up military boots….after that, there aren’t many left!

Current Elliott has been a longtime favorite with their consistent knack for presenting classic denim pieces that can be worn timelessly. Case in point a bombshell denim  pencil skirt , a look that can never be wrong or out. Now available at Net-a-porter.

A longtime favorite, delivering one fashion hit after the other Sass & Bide has expanded its line into a capsule denim collection consistent with their “Papa Sucre” Spring /Summer 2011 collection. Speaking of the strength of denim this year, this awfully cute denim smock dress by Current Elliot is already sold out on a bunch of sites. And note the lace-up boots…..don’t know about your city, but they are so hot right now in NYC. It’s like they’re almost required wearing!

Denim was in a bit of downward spiral for a while. After the recession it was due for a price correction anyway, plus there wasn’t a lot of newness and low-priced jeggings overran the category. But now retail statistic company NPD is reporting that women’s denim sales for the first three months of this year were up 20 percent, spurred by women buying more jeans at higher price points. The company attributes the uptick to new silhouettes, motivating women to open their wallets.

We wrote about the turbulence in the denim market in early March, highlighting the launch of Joe’s skinny “Micro Flare” jeans (above) as a sign that skinny jeans’ perch of dominance was being challenged by lots of new profiles. And in retail, new fashion is good in that it inspires people to spend. Not sure though if this means the demise of skinnys just yet, but definitely some sort of shift is occurring, though we think it’s a little too soon to say where the trend is going to land. Via WWD.

Shot by the adorable William Yan, we had to give you a second look at the Levi’s presentation highlighting  their upcoming collections. While the women’s looks were as usual sleek and timeless,  the big buzz was generated by their new “Commuter Cycling” series, designed for the  ever increasing number of dudes on bikes (ladies coming soon hopefully).
