Herefore, Holden teamed up with Impossible Project to also launch a limited edition instant camera kit. The kit includes specially made PX 680 Cool Holden Edition film and a refurbished SX 70 camera. There is also an exclusive camera carry bag and carved wooden box both designed by Tanner Goods. Holden is only making 60 kits available worldwide. To get one of the much sought-after limited kit, preorders will be available September 27 online.

The 5th Annual Independent Hangbag Designer Awards took place last Thursday, an event that was extra special for us since we were on the preliminary judging committment. There were a total of eight awards with the Best Handbag in Overall Style and Design going to Fabiola Pedrazzini. The banana bag above by Yanique Moore–inspired by Josephine Baker, natch–was entered in the Best Use of Swarovski Elements and while it didn’t win the big prize, it definitely won our hearts, though it was hard not to fall in love with all the designers there!

Samia and I last week were honored to represent Timberland as preliminary judges for the 5th Annual Independent Handbag Design Awards, sponsored by InStyle magazine. It’s a meaningful event to us because extending a hand to the up and comers is one of our favorite parts of editing Highsnobette.

The sentiment is the same for one-woman-handbag dynamo and the event host, Emily Blumenthal (who could have a side career as a stand-up comic–she is truly that funny), who launched the event in 2006 to help advance the careers of independent handbag designers. At the preliminary event, we viewed slides of over 1,000 bags submitted in eight different award categories from designers worldwide.

Above is an example of one eye-catching entry, a Chuck Taylor handbag by Darren Wallace, who entered it in the “Best Green Handbag” category. You can view many more of the entries here. Winners will be chosen on June 15th held in New York City.
