Casette Playa presents its ”supersaturated cartoon prints + set, psychedelic amphibian repeats + graphic knits” collection for Autumn 2012 in a video called “Karmageddon,” exploring “2 teenagers getting ready for end of the world party.” Directed by Grace Ladoja and featuring song “Go To Hell” by Dipset Trance Party.
Valentine’s Day is like a national holiday for MiuMiu, somehow it just suits the brand’s sensibilities. It includes bags, earrings, bracelets and is available at various and sundry Miu Miu boutiques and the web site
Opening Ceremony provides the fertile grounds for Chloe Sevigny to create her fourth collection with the boutique chain, and this time she turns to Vision Street Wear, a skate label she cut her teeth on in her early days on the New York scene, to inspire offerings that include tops, cycling shorts, platform sneakers and other ’90s whatnot. Like her other OC collabos at first glance this collection comes off a bit awkward and perhaps overly ironic, but if history repeats itself six months from now we’ll bet it’ll look perfectly awesome and on point.
It was revealed earlier today that Proenza Schouler is in search of real estate for its first store, with a Madison Avenue location in Manhattan, as one the label is zeroing in on. Kind of makes sense that the designers behind the label, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, would choose an uptown over downtown location for their first store. Proenza Schouler has always had that ladies who lunch gone naughty feel to it, not unlike their muse-ish pal, Chloe Sevigny, who traded her classy Connecticut possibilities for a much more tangled path but is still able to navigate the poshiest of events and people with ease. All of which leap to mind upon viewing Proenza’s Pre-Autumn 2012 collection. If last season the label went a bit further below 14th Street (heck even ventured into Williamsburg!) than it normally does with its ode to Navajo, with Pre-Autumn it returns home with a collection worthy of inspiring roots.
Featuring statement pieces from G-Star’s Spring /Summer 2011 line, the brand’s “Midnight” collection (the “Kalahari” dress, center right, is a standout), is now available online. Perfect for gift giving , take a look here.
Named a top eight emerging designer for Swahali Fashion Week 2010, have a look see at what designer Pooja Jeshang has cooked up for her Saffron label for Spring 2012. And make note of the model’s left-arm Mehndi art–the trend is coming, people. Via Fashionjunkii.
I posted up a sneak peek of the H&M x Versace Resort 2012 collection this morning (a news story I apparently missed when it went live in November ’cause I was out of the country and drinking non-stop–praise alcohol), and shortly thereafter the fashion internet exploded with official images of all the offerings. Mine came via Fashionindie (where you can see the guys’ stuff, too). The writer there is less enamored with this collection and yes, it is more subdued, less screaming Gianni, but for those who aren’t so much into statement pieces it could be the more preferable of the two collections–the softer side of Versace if you will.
As stated earlier, the big catch is that it will only available online, leaving us Yanks out of the fun since there is no H&M etail here, which no worries, you can always wait ’til the above dress shows up on Ebay sold at only double the price of an actual Versace dress. [UPDATE: Ahh, thought there would be a trick like this--in the comments a reader tells us H&M is planning to launch a U.S. etail site in January.]

It’s just surfacing widely now, but back around Thanksgiving Thebijouxeditrex gave the world a glimpse of another season’s collaboration between H&M and Versace. Next up is Cruise, which, according to the author, will be available on line only. She says:
”…and for all of you who can’t get enough of the Versace vibes or couldn’t get to a store to take part in last week’s fashion scrum, the collabo continues with a Cruise collection going exclusively online in January 2012. Think fruity floral prints in blue lilac, candy pink and white, spaghetti straps, baby doll dresses, printed denim hot pants, white jeans with gold embroidered side seams, bikini’s, ballet pumps and strappy sandals.”
Maybe time to add an H&M gift card to the gift list? See the rest of the images on the next page.
Rag & Bone does what it does best, zeroing in on the upcoming season’s biggest boutique trends, for Pre-Autumn 2012 it’s pops of bright color, leather, layering and in a late-breaking entry….turbans! Interesting that other than some color updates the footwear silhouette hasn’t changed much–ankle high or laced.
