mack couverture Mackage Trench Coats = The Fierceness!

Looking pulled together on a gray and cold  rainy day can be quite a challenge. Thankfully, the kind of trench  coats that makes  such a  sharp statement  that what’s underneath  really does not even matter, really do  exist. Designed by Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan , the canadian label  Mackage consistently provides the best  outerwear looks I’ve seen in a while. On the next page a closer look at the Mackage Spring 2009 trench coat fierceness!

han cover1 Introducing: Han Ahn Soon Autumn/Winter 2009

Han Ahn Soon   designed by AhnSoon Ahn presented her Autumn/Winter 2009 collection during japan fashion week . The line caught my eye as it’s fun , feminine but still not too girly. I have to say that  although the mongolian inspired coats and jacket  are  vaguely reminiscent of Anna Sui,  her aesthetic is  like a sleeker version of boho-chic.  Images via jfw.

On the next page a closer look at Han Ahn Soon  Autumn/Winter 2009.

Sneak Peek: Nau Fall 2009

highsnobette-sneak peek nau f 09

In a  fashion world that seems to be inundated with eco friendly lines that sacrifice fashion for the global economy, Nau is taking it to the absolute sustainable limit while keeping their pieces fresh and fashion forward. Focusing on super performance outerwear, each jacket is made completely out of post consumer waste and is built using a three layer construction without a single stitch. I was completely blown away when I heard that if your current garment  does start to fall apart you can send it back to them and they will recycle it into a new piece just for you. How cool is that??  Nau’s Fall ‘09 line will also feature plenty of other goodies including knit wear and accessories.

Detailed shots of Nau’s Fall 2009 collection after the jump.

mademe Made Me: The Jacket

MadeMe was a at Magic, natch. We had already posted up their Spring 2009 offerings so I popped by the booth to say hello and see if there wasn’t anything additional we could photograph. Well there wasn’t, but I couldn’t help but snap THE leather motorcycle jacket (famously worn by Alicia Keyes in her 1997 “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” video) designed by head mistress of MadeMe, Erin Magee (that’s her rep in the image, not her). Yes, everyone is offering some version of this silhouette for Fall 2009, but Erin gets the nod for being among the first if not the first to pump new life into this classic, bad girl jacket. If you want one, move fast as they tend to sell out.

This past week we got to preview the Autumn/Winter 2009 collection for May Kosaka’s MOTHE .  Based and produced  in Brooklyn, MOTHE  takes inspiration from the duality and transformation of   moths  to create a collection of pieces that are modern convertible and timeless. The fabrics are soft and the silhouettes  have the perfect combination of structure and fluidity. We heart MOTHE A LOT!

spyder1mini Spyder Fresh Air Shell Jacket

I recently got a  Spyder Fresh Air Shell Jacket, and was pleasantly surprised.  The cut is sleek,  the jacket is lightweight and very warm,  transitions easily from outdoorsy adventures to a city/urban setting.  Basically,  you don’t take up two seats on the  subway with your puffy  your jacket.  A closer look on the next page .

Nike “For The Love Of God” Jacket

nike 1 Nike For The Love Of God Jacket

Lois is really good at doing the sporty look, with this chic urban vibe. For some reason when I try, I end up looking like I just left the gym and forgot the rest of my outfit. The For The Love  Of God Nike  jacket  has a little old school look that I  like. Trend-wise  this is prolly circa 90’s or early 2000 not a major concern at HighSnobette we do our own thing. Available at Ssense.

Outdoor Retailer: Cool without Trying

27 January 2009, 22.02 | Posted in Coats & Jackets | 2 comments »

One of the best parts of the Outdoor Retailer show is all the rugged Americana looks that are fashionable without even trying. All of my women who have shopped in hunting departments or at horse supply shops know of what I speak.  Here’s one image from a company called Bemidji, that makes wool coats.benmidjiplaid Outdoor Retailer: Cool without Trying

Throw a funky label on there, some constrasting top stitching and exchange the black buttons for flourescent orange ones and voila, you have a hot streetwear item!

After the jump is one more image of a fashionable rep, plus a couple of really cute dogs, who are allowed to attend the show! They even give them their own show badges!
