Hey all you Married to the MOB fans, for a total hoot, check out head designer Leah McSweeney’s appearance tonight on Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker. The above image comes from a NY Post article covering McSweeney’s bio–including a run in with the law, and her current status post-Millionaire. And to the guy in the comments section of the Post article, yes her rack is real!

Perhaps inspired by or in tribute to its collaboration with its first female, Vashtie, from earlier this year, Jordan is offering the Jordan 1 “Daybreak.”  The purple-ish hue isn’t the same, but comes from the same family as Vashtie’s Jordan “Lavendar” from earlier this year. There isn’t a lot of info accompanying the sneak peek images of  the Vans X Santigold perforated high-tops shown above, just that they have a Spring 2011 launch date. The Married to the MOB holiday lookbook has just dropped and it’s full of lots of great looks, including some new tees, some of which are sure to be classics, including “Good Girls Bend At The Knees, Bad Girls Bend At The Waist!” The tee on this page is my fave–love when this brand calls out its New York roots, plus the vee-neck is sexy. A little bit of history on the Reebok “Freestyle Hi”…introduced in 1984, it was a style that took the sneaker business by storm because it was really the first athletic shoe designed for women who were working on their fitness, aerobics specifically. It was so powerful it even sent Nike’s sales reeling for a while. Jump forward to 2009 when Reebok launched its “EasyTone” style, designed to help facilitate, as the ad says, ”better legs and a better butt.”  And it, too, has been a runaway sales train in part because the industry never really learned its lessons about creating product for women. So the idea of creating a hybrid out of the two designs is certainly interesting and unlike a lot of design combos, makes sense because of the historic connections between the two. As to the effectiveness of the shoe itself when it comes to toning, that is another discussion entirely! [Update: as per reader question, the shoes should deliver in November and will be sold at Foot Action, The Finish Line, Dr. Jays, Shiekh and more, and will retail for $110.]

Nike must like London-based menswear designer Katie Eary, the company recenlty called on her again (she has dressed sprinter Martin Rooney in a custom, cheetah Nike track jacket)  to interpret a pair of “Lunar Glide 2s,” the brand’s current out-of-the-box, superstar running shoe style. Not sure if these are more for inspiration than wearing, but the materials story is about as sick as it comes. Via Vicestyle.

Frye has always offered a range of styles beyond its famous down-to-Earth boots, but this foray into sneakers is a first that I know of. And if this is its virgin attempt, then kudos! Very nicely done! Available also in black at Urbanoutfitters. Via Nylon.

Vashtie Kola, who recently shook up the sneaker world as the first female collaborator on a pair of Jordans, was recently interviewed by Vibe Vixen magazine. In the q&a she chats about the origin of her name, her fave kicks, and her views on baby tees and how she believes tees in general should fit. Here’s a taste….Kola’s response to a question, asking her to describe her style:

“Fashion-forward tomboy. Although I like sneakers and I like hoodies and t-shirts, I also like well-made things, the world of high-fashion is dear to me because I like things that are well-made and that’s not to say that all things high-fashion are well made. I like things that are fashionable ad I like well-made tangible products and goods. You know, I have a really great handbag collection and shoe collection whether it be sneakers or heels. It spaNS those two worlds and it’s kind of a balance.”
