NKEWovenRed1 Nike Gingham Woven Freemotion January 2011

Nike’s “Woven” shoes have always been among its most loveable and the addition of a gingham pattern (’member the Adidas X Upper Playbround gingham “Superstars” from way back when??) makes them even more so.  This particular series gets modernized with a “Freemotion” sole, which stays in the background as it should with an upper this busy. According to Streething, this style comes available at Limitededt in January. See a blue pair on the next page.

NKELT4 Nike X (I)D Ruby Red Sneakers

Designer Lauren Tennenbaum of (In)DecorousTaste fame, was contacted by Nike to rebuild a pair of running shoes with a skies the limit ceiling on creativity and out-there-ness. The result you see here….a tribute as it turns out to Dorothy from “Wizard Of Oz” and the imagined conclusion that she would have fared better in footwear more nimble than a pair of pumps. Pretty fantastic if you ask me. Via Sneakernews. A image of the kicks before Tennenbaum took a knife to them, plus more shots of the finished version after the flip.

Jordan1B Air Jordan 1 Daybreak Suede

Perhaps inspired by or in tribute to its collaboration with its first female, Vashtie, from earlier this year, Jordan is offering the Jordan 1 “Daybreak.”  The purple-ish hue isn’t the same, but comes from the same family as Vashtie’s Jordan “Lavendar” from earlier this year. However, the lace inlays are entirely new. Via Nicekicks. More images on the next page.

MTTM (22)

The Married to the MOB holiday lookbook has just dropped and it’s full of lots of great looks, including some new tees, some of which are sure to be classics, including “Good Girls Bend At The Knees, Bad Girls Bend At The Waist!” The tee on this page is my fave–love when this brand calls out its New York roots, plus the vee-neck is sexy. And the slim, long-length zip-up hoodie on the next page was calling my name, too! See lots more images, all modeled by made-MOB girl, Sarah McSweeney–when only the orginal will do! Shop the collection here and see lots more looks on the next page.  Read more

Reebok ‘EasyTone Freestyle Hi’ Hybrid Sneaker

09 November 2010, 16.28 | Posted in Chicks with Kicks, Sneakers | 5 comments »

Reebok EasyTone Freestyle Hi5

A little bit of history on the Reebok “Freestyle Hi”…introduced in 1984, it was a style that took the sneaker business by storm because it was really the first athletic shoe designed for women who were working on their fitness, aerobics specifically. It was so powerful it even sent Nike’s sales reeling for a while. Jump forward to 2009 when Reebok launched its “EasyTone” style, designed to help facilitate, as the ad says, ”better legs and a better butt.”  And it, too, has been a runaway sales train in part because the industry never really learned its lessons about creating product for women. So the idea of creating a hybrid out of the two designs is certainly interesting and unlike a lot of design combos, makes sense because of the historic connections between the two. As to the effectiveness of the shoe itself when it comes to toning, that is another discussion entirely! [Update: as per reader question, the shoes should deliver in November and will be sold at Foot Action, The Finish Line, Dr. Jays, Shiekh and more, and will retail for $110.]
