Opening Ceremony provides the fertile grounds for Chloe Sevigny to create her fourth collection with the boutique chain, and this time she turns to Vision Street Wear, a skate label she cut her teeth on in her early days on the New York scene, to inspire offerings that include tops, cycling shorts, platform sneakers and other ’90s whatnot. Like her other OC collabos at first glance this collection comes off a bit awkward and perhaps overly ironic, but if history repeats itself six months from now we’ll bet it’ll look perfectly awesome and on point.

Taking a page from Jeremy Scott’s plushie book, Hello Kitty joins forces with UBIQ on a pair of kicks. Though don’t gaze on them too long or you may end up with multiple cavities ; ) Via Trendhunter.

Via its iconic 581 style, New Balance is collaborating with four boutiques worldwide–Mita Sneakers in Tokyo, Kasina in Seoul,  24 Kilates in Spain and Bodega in Boston, Mass–with each one choosing materials and colors that tell a story about their stores. The 581 x Bodega shoe featured here was inspired by ’90s ski jackets. These should hit retail in about a month.

In one of my other jobs I cover the business side of athletics. That’s how I spotted these Under Armour Charge running shoes, which are at the moment an obsession. These are men’s shoes, and the reason for that is the guys’ colorways have it all over the women’s. Available for purchase here.

Alexander Wang’s “Dillon” sneakers are now available for purchase on his site. This black version was just offered as part of a “12 Days Of Gifting” holiday promotion. The Dillon is priced at $385–what do you think, ladies, can the Dillon kicks get it or would you rather save your pennies for Isabel Marant’s Spring 2012 line up of kicks (though good look finding them anywhere)?

The big athletic shoe companies are starting to sit up and take notice of the uptick in popularity of sneakers among females. Reebok joins the party with the Chi-Kaze (pronounced “she-kaze”), a female version of its Kamikaze III, launched earlier this year in collaboration with Swizz Beatz.  Available at Journey’s in December.

Now how in the heck did this Front magazine slip under my radar until now? Apparently it’s a rag dedicated to the streetwear generation and every issue features a hot babe, often decked out in kicks and brands like Supreme, Obey and that ilk.

We’re all for it, seems like a fun mag, but can’t help but deeply feel the irony given that the women’s streetwear movement is pretty much down to its last gasps. So many conversations we at HS have had with women frustrated by the lack of brands capable of creating compelling streetwear product for the ladies. It’s like this gaping chasm that never seems to be filled. And while it’s fun to watch the guys place dress up with gorgeous babes (talking to you, Ronnie Fieg!), darn, we sure do wish for more of a “female gaze” where this genre is concerned.
